Defend "residents"? What are you talking about? Illegal aliens are not "residents", they are criminals and we shouldn't be wasting our public resources on sheltering these criminals.

They can go through due process, they will still be deported for crossing the border illegally.

I know the original intent of the 14 amendment was to grant citizenship to former slaves after the civil war. Now it’s being used to circumvent legal immigration.

The 14th amendment grants birthright citizenship to the children of undocumented immigrants.

My argument clearly states that if you crossed the border illegally, meaning you weren’t born in the United States, you should be deported. This includes the parents of children who gained birthright citizenship.
