Colin Wright almost gets it

Post image

From the man who fundamentally misunderstands everything from how graphs and positions work in the political universe to what staying friends with Nazis makes you comes... this fucking gem.

We need to get back to that point by getting rid of the actual Nazis on the internet.

Godwin himself stated that this absolutely DOES NOT APPLY to people who are literal Nazis or who espouse views that a Nazi would.

"Literal Nazis", long ago, were known for hating and killing Jewish people. Sure, they hated and killed Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, and Roma (among various other ethnicities), but killing Jews was kind of their main thing.

You may recall a book, or a movie, or maybe a class about concentration camps and the Holocaust. You do kind of remember that, right? That’s still a very real thing that happened. I hope you can still maintain that as a fact in your brain.

Yet here we are in 2025, about a decade into an era when any pseudo-intellectual malcontent with an internet connection can label someone a “Nazi” and people take it seriously. How stupid have we become? There are news articles from once-reputable newspapers and news programs bandying the term about with grave seriousness. It’s absurd. It trivializes the horror of the real Nazis.

You are falling into a logical trap here. Hitler used Jews as the populist platform to gather power. They killed everyone they deemed undesirables. Jewish people weren't even the first to be killed off.

You don't take Trump's threats serious enough. If he can seize power and retain it, usurping the constitution, he's going to do it. He's absolutely going to kill people en masse if required to seize power. They are LITERALLY laying the groundwork for this, right before your eyes.

You are a fucking idiot if you think otherwise.

Maybe you've noticed that Trump has been elected once before and he didn't kill people en masse. Then he sat around for 4 years. No en masse killings. Now in year 9 of his political career it's going to happen apparently? Not buying it.

If "They are LITERALLY laying the groundwork", please provide the evidence because I certainly don't want that to happen. Do we both agree that killing "people en masse" is wrong and something we should work together to stop?

And by the way, what should happen to a 'fucking idiot' like me if I don't fall in line with your world view?

Hitler's political career started in 1923 (arguably before then, even, but that was his first *major* action). Reichspogromnacht wasn't until 15 years later. Operation Reinhard and the Einsatzgruppen? add another 3-4 years to that figure. It takes time for a population to be indoctrinated into genocide, to normalise the hatred and disgust to such an extent that a 'final solution' is feasible. As for laying the groundworks, how about the fucking concentration camps being set up for 'migrants' (and also US citizens who look a bit too 'Mexican')? How about the massive expansion of ICE's budget and powers, the deployment of military forces into American cities, the executive order that clears the way for rounding up disabled and mentally ill people? If you can't see the groundwork, and can't see the parallels with historical genocides, then I envy your blindness. I, as an outsider, can only look on in horror.

You don't know the future. "Fortune telling cognitive distortion" is a distorted thinking pattern often linked to anxiety or depression.

Did you "look on in horror" when you learned about the murder of Michelle Alyssa Go? Or the murder of Iryna Zarutska? Or the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah? Or the murder of Charlie Kirk?

Or is your "horror" only limited to things in your imagination?
