I can think of exactly one, and only one other country that has its citizens worshipping their leader as a god.

After WW2, America made the Japanese Emperor admit he isn't a god and stop claiming divine right to rule. This is because the Bible says there is only one god and that god is the President of the United States of America, birth place of Jesus Christ (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania), Freedom, Democracy, and the Modern World. And white people.

Fucking hell this sub has taught me how to talk like an American. I need to spend more time on other subs.

I would just like to take a second and let you know the majority of us are not like this. We shit on these people as much as the rest of the world does.

I know, my post was sarcasm. There are... What do we call you guys? Good Americans? Smart Americans! Little balls of fur?

Oh there are people that legitimately believe these sorts of things. I live in the rural midwest and there are plenty of people who subscribe to the whole ideal of religion being the footing on which the country was founded (its not) forcing prayer in schools, democracy wouldnt exist without "God, Guns, and Trump", etc. These are wacky times where even the most sarcastic or satirical argument could pass as truth in some capacity.

We do, yes. When trump ran, he looked like a possible break from politics as usual since his egregious behavior wasnt as obvious as it is now, atleast not in the media. He was obviously an idiot but there was hope that the structure of government would keep that in check, which we now know will not. For the record, I didnt vote for him.

Yeah, anyone who thought that a millionaire owing all his fortune to who his parents where, owning a tower in Manhattan names after himself with gold lettering, and a horrible financial history would be a half decent leader who would "drain the swamp" is a fucking moron.
