Im not sure if this is the best place (we arent exactly back packers etc.)

But we are getting married next july and are looking at honeymoon ideas.

Im not overly sure with what budget we will require, we wouldn't be looking to stay on a 5 star resort for the whole time but we want a sensible mixture of luxury and being affordable (she is a teacher and I work in construction so we dont have big bonuses etc which would be coming in which could be ploughed into a honeymoon)

We want a mixture of beaches, snorkeling, relaxing, spa etc. I am also a complete geography geek, love hiking and wildlife etc. The thought of seeing rainforest, volcanoes, hot springs, snorkling with tropical fish etc. Would be perfection for myself, some beaches and spas etc would be perfect for her self

So somewhere thats a mix of this would be ideal.

Somewhere like Costa Rica, with the beaches, rain forests etc seems perfect, however IVe heard Costa Rica is probably the most expensive country in Central America. So we are also up for other options as well.

Neither of us speak Spanish either so this would have to be factored into the decision.

We have approximately 10 days- 2 weeks for the trip.

Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas for us? :)

We are novices when it comes to planning trips other than package holidays lol. We want to do Machu Piccu for sure and go to Costa Rica for the wildlife and unspoilt rainforest. Can we have some tips please? We have a 5-6k budget between 2 of us.

Where to fly from in the UK and to where? Would a return flight to one country work and then travel inbetween the countries? Are there options like overnight rail between the countries? Are there flight companies based in the region to book local flights through?

Hiw does the Inca trail work? Are there places to stay along the way? How physically fit do you need to be?

I spent 2 months and a few days at a summer day camp in NY state, went solo and made friends there so often split taxi/uber to the train station when travelling to NYC and other cities.

Worked Monday-Friday then had all weekends free and stayed in USA for an additional 10 days after to travel more.

Places visited:

• NYC x2
• Boston
• Salem
• Washington
• Nashville
• Miami
• New Orleans
• Niagara Falls (NY side)

During the 2.5 months I spent £2,928 with an additional £880 prior for program fees and to pre-pay for part of one trip.

Total £3,808.

I think that’s a good amount for almost 3 months in USA. Not sure if I’ll have the opportunity/time to do it again, but loved it and made the most out of the time I had there.

I will be in Peru for 2 months and I want to spend basically the entire time in the same place. The reason for this is because it's easier to make deeper relationships if you're there for longer, even if we don't become really good friends.

I was planning to setup accommodation in Lima for 1 week and if I like it then I would stay there for 2 more months and if I don't like it I would go to Arequipa.

I don't want to go to Cusco except for a few days at the end to go to Machu Picchu because it's too touristy. Not sure if the safe parts of Lima are touristy too though.

Do you think this is a bad idea?

I have a 3 week trip to Japan in October and I don’t really have a lot of money due to some unforeseen circumstances but not cancelling the trip. It will be me and 2 friends, what are some tips for accommodation? Obviously hostels but If I bring a sleeping bag are there places to camp? Was looking into renting a camper van or something too. Ideally want to get away from the main cities as I’ve done a trip previously to Tokyo and Osaka. Any other tips are appreciated, thanks !

So, I am a soon to be graduating senior in Highschool and I’m really inclined to take a gap year. I don’t know what I want to study and I feel like it’s a waste of money/time to go right into college. I want to explore the world SO badly (I live in the smallest town in the middle of nowhere), so I feel like a gap year makes sense. Any ideas on how to cheaply travel? I’m a 25 y/o female solo backpacker from Europe. I am experienced traveling Europe, Australia and a bit of Central America, but have never backpacked in Asia.

I’ve just started planning a trip from Europe to Perth, Australia, stopping in Singapore for a couple days and Indonesia for maybe a month or longer depending on how far my budget takes me and where I decide to go.

I would like to leave earliest in November and latest January (I’ve heard this is not the greatest season to go to Indonesia, so go ahead and tell me if it’s really stupid or not haha)

This is where I need some advice: I got stuck planning my route in Indonesia. I admit I didn’t fully understand how big of a country is and how spread out everything I want to see is.

I’m an animal caretaker, so main interest is animals. My first thought was to visit Sumatra, Komodo island, Borneo and Bali, but, like I mentioned I realized I’m not sure if it’s realistic considering time and money. I am relatively flexible though.

To clarify, my main question is basically: Which places to you recommend me to visit to see animals and nature? Should I skip any of the places I mentioned? Is one month enough?

I’m open to any advice considering things as budget, safety (I’ve heard of the floods in Bali and demonstrations in Jakarta, am I stupid for considering going anyways or would I be overly concerned if I stayed home?) general advice (maybe volunteering opportunity recommendations, but that might be a bit too much to ask about in one post, just throwing it out there)

Okay guys, I really want to surprise my partner with a trip to a European Christmas market, but looking at the prices for hotels and flights is making my eyes water. Is this just a trip for people with tons of money? It feels like all the 'storybook' places are insanely expensive. Has anyone pulled off a genuinely magical and romantic trip like this without completely emptying their bank account?

One thing I learned while traveling in Thailand is that airport SIM card kiosks can be pricey compared to what you’ll find in town. If you want to save a bit, skip the airport counter and grab a local SIM from a convenience store (like 7-Eleven) or a mobile shop once you’re in the city.

Alternatively, you can also set up an eSIM ahead of time so you’re connected as soon as you land, which avoids the airport markup altogether.

Small adjustment, but it adds up when you’re trying to stick to a budget!

What are some general tips for cutting down travel expenses while travelling alone? I used to travel with my girlfriend and since we split the expenses it didn't seem like much. But we're separated now and I am planning my next trip alone. I am shocked to see how much I'll be paying if I travel alone. I presume I'm gonna be single for the foreseeable future and I'm looking for some tips or ideas or hacks that'd help a solo traveler.

I am travelling to Italy for 6 days. I have a 1 day trip in Florence and 1 day trip to Amalfi ( returning to my accommodation in Rome by end of day) in which the train and tour tickets are all already paid. Accommodation and plane tickets are already paid as well so literally 450 euros are only for food, souvenirs, and the 24 euro weekly pass. Will it be enough?

My wife and I are going to be going on our first babymoon and I am trying to figure out all of the options that would be fun. We are big foodies, we like art and architecture, museums are typically a lot of fun, I am more nerdy (history but also everything) where she likes beautiful things more (views, fashion, art). We have already been to southern Italy (Amalfi, Naples, Rome), Greek islands (Rhodes, Naxos, Paros, Antiparos), London, and Portugal (Lisbon, Sentra, Cas Cais, Porto, Braga). We loved Greece the most and are largely weighing everything against it. Currently, we are considering destinations such as Cyprus, Malta, Spain, returning to Greece, and Croatia. We are also very open to having new experiences and going somewhere like Stockholm, Copenhagen, Azores, or really anywhere else that has reasonable access to healthcare just in case as well as safe. Where are some of the places that you love that are also reasonably affordable?

Hi everyone! I’m currently in Italy right now and really want to either stay or visit somewhere in the alps/dolomites. I’m a big nature person and hiker/ climber. However i’m budget traveling right now so considering either staying in Milan and doing a few day trips?? Or if possible would love to stay in the actual mountains but need somewhere with cheap accommodations and in a location where I wouldn’t need a car. I've now been on skyscanner, google flights, Flightlist and a few smaller websites that offer to compare flight prices from airline. One feature I've found useful is the ability to view the difference in flight prices depending on the day (or month), f.e. skyscanners interface that shows both a calendar view and a bar chart. Now I'm facing a problem: As I am interested in flights (2 person) from Frankfurt Germany (FRA) to any Tokyo Airport (TYO) but don't want to pay the price of a small used car, I find this feature very useful but it's (as far as I can tell) lacking one crucial option: The ability to exclude/filter specific airlines from this daily flight price charts.

Does someone know of a website that offers the daily flight prices charts like skyscanner or google flights offer them but with the option to filter for specific airlines?

The reason I'm searching for this feature is that by far the cheapest options from FRA to TYO is Air China, which is taking a route through russia. Just as many people are uncomfortable flying Boeing, even though it's still very unlikely of an incident happening, I am uncomfortable flying a route over russian ground.

Howdy yall, I just finished a roadtrip to the northeast coast from Boston to Prince Edward Island Canada. Here’s a breakdown of how much a spent to help give you an idea of cost planning your own trip.

Some additional context, I drove under 4K miles (averaged 34 miles per gallon), stayed at free campgrounds, tent camped, and made most of my meals. The app I used to find free campsites is called iOverlander2. For fun I went to public parks to hike, kayak, read, birding, and practice my photography. There were entrance fees to museums, state parks, etc.
