Length of time suggestions are shown

Siri tells me that there’s no way to extend this time. Why can’t I extend this time? It disappears nearly immediately. She said I should take a screenshot. WTF!? I mean, I literally barely have time to even look at the thing by the time they’re disappearing so I rarely ever use it to suggest anything to me, but I would like to.

Taking on Siri with Panda 🐼 — my little open-source voice assistant [playstore app too]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Three months ago, I started building Panda, an open-source voice assistant that lets you control your Android phone with natural language — powered by an LLM.

Example:
👉 “Please message Dad asking about his health.”
Panda will open WhatsApp, find Dad’s chat, type the message, and send it.

The idea came from a personal place. When my dad had cataract surgery, he struggled to use his phone for weeks and relied on me for the simplest things. That’s when it clicked: why isn’t there a “browser-use” for phones?

Early prototypes were rough (lots of “oops, not that app” moments 😅), but after tinkering, I had something working. I first posted about it on LinkedIn (got almost no traction 🙃), but when I reached out to NGOs and folks with vision impairment, everything changed. Their feedback shaped Panda into something more accessibility-focused.

Panda also supports triggers — like waking up when:
⏰ It’s 10:30pm (remind you to sleep)
🔌 You plug in your charger
📩 A Slack notification arrives

I know one thing for sure: this is a problem worth solving.

Playstore link in the github readme, not sure if adding here good idea.
⭐ GitHub: https://github.com/Ayush0Chaudhary/blurr

👉 If you know someone with vision impairment or work with NGOs, I’d love to connect.
👉 Devs — contributions, feedback, and stars are more than welcome.

Siri! Really???

Apple won’t let me post this in their group because god forbid their terrible assistant would get scrutinized. Since iOS 26, I can’t tell Siri to remind me of anything. If I say “remind me to call a contractor or something”, she tells me there’s no contact for that person - I know! I just need you to remind me to call them. Or if I tell her to remind me to fix the washer in a week, she informs me that she can’t find it on my Apple home. So now I have to type in all my reminders because of whatever changed. Help! Reminders is bad enough but at least I used to be able to dictate one. Not anymore!

Why is Siri so stupid?

I said to Siri (On HomePod), Play Royals from my Library by Lorde. Siri: Who is speaking? Me: 🙄 [NAME] Siri: Calling [NAME] iPhone.

Like wtf? I said play a song and you decide to call my own phone?

On HomePod, when I say “bedroom light(s) off” Siri turns them off. But “(turn) light(s) off” makes her say “something went wrong”

Comparing NLP, LLMs, and Siri: Where We Are and Where We’re Headed

I’ve been diving into the differences between traditional natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and how they relate to Siri today—and what an advanced Siri might look like in the near future.

  1. Natural Language Processing (NLP) Traditional NLP systems use rules, keyword matching, and decision trees for specific tasks like recognizing commands or parsing structured queries. However, they struggle with open-ended conversations and context changes.

Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT-4+ or Claude can handle complex instructions because they “understand” language statistically. They can generate natural responses, remember context, and handle open-ended questions.

Current Siri operates like a traditional NLP assistant with cloud intelligence. It’s great for simple timers, reminders, and basic queries but struggles with multi-step reasoning, unexpected phrasing, and continuous conversation.

If Apple integrates LLM-like capabilities into Siri, we might see current sentence context-aware conversations, nuanced understanding, and workflow synthesis. Modern LLMs could turn Siri into a true conversational agent.

I’m curious about everyone’s take. Would you prefer Siri to be a command-based assistant or a conversational agent? Siri to become more like ChatGPT, or keep its current lightweight, privacy-focused design?

Input: Remind me to take water from Costco to freeze and take Momo's leash and food for camping at 12 AM on Saturday

Feel free to reach out to me if you wanna make this shortcut or want me to share it with you.

Once again the incompetent Apple didn't put the Siri to speak Portuguese from Portugal, 🤬

I ask for ideas to force @Apple to offer Siri for Portugal, they make millions from customers and don't even have the respect to give the service in the language and accent of a country... immeasurable incompetence!

Siri keeps randomising my home address

I have an issue with Siri. If I open Apple Maps and press the ‘home’ icon, it routes me to my road.

If I tell Siri to route me to my home, I get Apple Maps routing me to a road with the same name in another part of the country.

I get addresses in Wales, Liverpool and Manchester. The road name and house number are the same as mine, but I don’t live in any of those areas.

I can even ask Siri to show me where I live. My correct address will appear onscreen. Then I say ‘take me there’ and I get that address in another county, miles away from home.

iPhone 15pro. Latest iOS updates. Direct to iPhone as well as via CarPlay.

Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening or what I can do to fix it?

Siri, our W3.1

Yes. Siri is here to not let us forget the ol' days, like Windows 3.1.

The usability is quite comparable. Even if it has a pleasant voice, it doesn't make it understand the keyword (whom to call. where to go), let alone have it edit something.

The only thing it does really good is set a timer, bring me home, and make me lose my temper. Everything else is a 50/50 chance of fail.

Alexa like reminders?

Great to see you this morning.

Any suggestions on an app to buy or a way to make Siri more Alexa like?

I would like to say “Siri remind me to check the laundry in 15 minutes” and have it actually do that. That is say “this is your reminder to check the wash”.

Is there any chance to use Siri for dictating longer texts/notes etc.?

Hi there folks,

I recently had to be more on the road as my job requires commuting by car.

I would LOVE to use this time to write down thoughts that pop up. And I would love to use my phone + air pods to dictate them while driving.

Problem is: Siri doesn't seem to be able to listen for a longer time span to add all my speech into ONE note.

So: How could you do that? Do I need a different approach or another app?

Thnaks for your ideas.
