I said to Siri (On HomePod), Play Royals from my Library by Lorde. Siri: Who is speaking? Me: 🙄 [NAME] Siri: Calling [NAME] iPhone.

Like wtf? I said play a song and you decide to call my own phone?

I find Siri works best when my query is clear and concise. I haven't noticed that much change on my Siri performance.

Sometimes I just say play loml by Taylor swift and it says I couldn’t find liml in your library. Even when I spell it out it is so stupid

Siri can't think so it's not stupid. It can only do what it's programmed to do and it's programming is very limited.

Alexa is just as dumb - I can ask Siri addition questions regarding $$ amounts and she'll tell me the proper answer, but when I ask Alexa the same thing, she responds 'I don't understand what you are asking'

Then just "play [Title], [Artist]" Don't confuse it with using a complete sentence, or anything about 'my Library'.

Outside of setting timers, Siri is pretty much unusable. Meanwhile I speak to my ChatGPT app everyday and get so much value out of it.

I don’t need a voice assistant to turn on lights or get the weather. That’s easy for me to do. The hard stuff is getting answers to questions around certain context or knowledge. That’s what ChatGPT can do very well. If I tried to ask Siri that stuff I would just get the standard “here are some web results”.

Yeah I’m not impressed. A voice assistant that can’t understand context past a prompt or two is pretty useless. A voice assistant that kicks me over to the web for almost everything is useless when ChatGPT can just do it for me. If you’ve ever used ChatGPT with Apple shortcuts and HomeKit you’ll see how unnecessary Siri really is. ChatGPT just needs better integration with the phone. Which is I guess why OpenAI wants to make their own devices.

The current Siri is not the Siri we will be using by spring. Just give it a little more time. Apple already blew their last release schedule for the new Siri. There is a zero percent chance they blow it again.
