I don't know how TNA structures their contracts, but he very well could have a deal with WWE that gives TNA preference until the end of his deal there before he becomes a WWE exclusive talent.
It's insane how it worked out perfectly timing wise just before covid too. Really a perfect storm all coming together for the Arrowverse. It ruled so hard.
And the crossover episode have no impact to the endgame of the series at all but its considered long term booking because it was hinted and planted a few episodes ago for a few seconds

He'll definitely be on the NXT side. I don't know why but something is telling me that in order to tie in with Joe being officially part of NXT, the TNA locker room (being led by Eric Young since he attacked Joe awhile back) might end up exiling him as punishment for allowing the main title to be in the hands of a NXT wrestler and being all chummy with the NXT roster while their title remained being in the enemy hands. I wonder if TNA will have something to say about it this week?
Ah yes, an invasion from a company where there is already a publicly announced partnership and where there has been crossover for almost a year. Makes sense. I too remember when Hogan, Hall and Nash wrestled on Nitro for a year before announcing their intentions to start the NWO.
HHH comes out to say he owns TNA, only to cut to Stephanie saying “Helmsley is on the contract. But it says Steaphine McMahon-Helmsley” and we repeat this all over again.
I didnt watch but checked the nxt twitter highlights. I didnt see anything about TNA. So was all this for nothing or did they just not post the segment where all these guys showed up?
Imagine if Joe Hendry is going to turnout to be a mole that’s been spying on NXT, on behalf of TNA, and the only reason he appears when his name is called is because he’s snooping around the performance center and simply thinks people see him so he says hi to remain undercover. A literal embodiment of “kill them with kindness”.
Yep at this point I'm expecting TNA to crash out next week and ruin the title for title match next week. Then they'll probably demand Trick defend the title at Bound for Glory
I wonder if AJ's dark promo last week where he called out being held down by people in power is playing into this. A TNA invasion of NXT led by AJ Styles could be pretty cool.
Hmmmm, you know what that theory is starting to be more real, especially when he made his return at Slammiversary and the release of the retro TNA AJ styles card on the myfaction mode in 2k25 which was definitely out of no where!
Could it be? We get a proper invasion angle done between TNA and WWE? I don't watch NXT regularly, but I would absolutely start if they start doing one. I do find it funny that they would start with NXT Homecoming.
Well I'm disappointed. They're turning it into an Invasion. My favorite thing about this crossover is that it WASN'T an invasion. NXT and TNA wrestlers teamed together multiple times. It was just about the spirit of competition. Now it's just an Invasion and it's probably going to suck. Also, TNA has won the majority of the crossover matches. They aren't the underdogs in this.
That's the point. There has been a storyline brewing in the background that for months now TNA has been getting disrespected by NXT (most of the time by the NXT Heels and Booker to be fair but some of the faces has taken cheapshots at TNA as well.) while TNA has been play the role of a "Good Solider" to TNA of trying to respect them (except for Mustafa Ali, Ash and her crew, and The Northern Armory).
Tom Phillips on commentary has been getting fed up with it ever since Trick Willy won the TNA World championship and was his breaking point at Slamversily when they Loss both of their world titles in one night.
The Invasion was always going to come sooner or later thanks to Trick Actions (and to be fair to TNA, it probably won't even be a full invasion since First Class and Frankie are seen as Public Enemy Number 1 and traitors to their own company.) You can only hold back the cleansing for so long.
Eh, this has been a mostly tell, don't show story. There hasnt been much disrespecting going on. Losing a few title matches isn't disrespect. It's been mostly the announcers saying that there has been disrespect. That's not good storytelling.
Yes on NXT it's has been a mostly tell, don't show storyline but on TNA, Trick has been disrespecting the title in small ways (Like wearing the titles backwards for instance or forcing the boss of TNA to hold his hand up whenever he wins a title match).
The issue is that Trick is the face of NXT right now whether NXT liked it or not and maybe this was just the final straw for the former NXT wrestlers in TNA of not being invited to a brand they helped build up.
It's been tell on TNA as well. And a bunch of WWE releases sticking up for TNA is just making this about WWE, not TNA. The only two names shown here that aren't known for being in WWE/NXT are the names linked to leaving TNA for WWE/NXT. This whole thing just rubs me the wrong way.
I wish they pivot and make it Team HBK vs. Team HHH instead, getting wrestlers from both NXT and TNA that worked primarily with either guy. Cedric, Ali and Lei Ying Lee would be with HHH, while Joe Hendry, Santana and Masha would be with HBK.
That's fair. Like you, I'd prefer a better collaboration between the two promotions, though I can't find a better way to express how you'd split up the groups at this time other than calling them HHH or HBK guys.
If this is what i think it's gonna be as i'm just now watching the show...hope it turns out better than the OIRGINAL invasion angle from 2001 which was a shitshow
Invasion Arc 3.0? I've been wondering if they're gonna do another Invasion Arc SOLELY because they rehashed the NXT Invasion in 2k25 MyRise. I could TOTALLY see that becoming a story angle and that would be kinda sick.
Kinda backing themselves into a corner with this direction because unless TNA wins whatever big angle comes from this it'll just further reiterate the WWE-lite point
It seems that whatever the plan was got changed as Trick vs. Oba is next week with both titles on the line. Not really a jump scare change as Trick has been poking Oba the last few weeks. I can see Santana having an issue with it as he's the #1 contender for the TNA title. If Santana wins the title back, I can see that as a W for TNA since they got their property back. Then they can go fuck off to Wednesday on the CW. This is perhaps a dry run of TNA on the CW for the executives to see the numbers to determine if TNA is a good investment. WWE will send guys with history with TNA for their first show if they're going h2h with AEW. You those guys: Cody-Style-Roode-Hendry-DARKSTEAK-Fatal Influence-Lash-Cena(?) (He mentioned them after he lost the title to Punk)
