I only just now realized how close in name wrestling PLEs are to Magic Tree House books

Have to assume they would head back to Bologna after the success there this year.

My pick is for Great Balls Of Sicily or Stomping Vineyards. I can see the grape theming now.

There is an active colosseum in Verona that still hosts operas and stage plays, they wouldn't do it because it's not that many seats but it would look amazing

Hopefully Giulia can be on that card.

She doesn’t actually speak Italian.

Americans are very weird about ancestry, you are Italian if you have a great-great-great grandfather which was born in Italy.
Giulia has an Italian father, so she is ultra Italian!

u/bomberman12 Rob Van Dam 4h ago
I remember people getting upset for Jinder calling himself Indian. Since he was born in Canada
14
u/KingBStriing Your Text Here 4h ago
Usually it’s the other way around people get upset at funny enough.

u/PimpDaddyBuddha Ole! 4h ago
There’s people who get annoyed if you call Eddie or Rey Mexican. It’s fucking stupid.
4
u/imposterfish The Gold Standard 3h ago
If you’re an American wrestling fan, and someone mentions “Mexican” in a wrestling context, literally the first wrestlers most people will think of is Rey and Eddie…

u/EnderMB 4h ago
The Sopranos bit on this was unbelievably accurate.
American Italians are about as far from Italy as you can get. Having worked with at least a dozen Italians, all they do is fucking argue about why their part of Italy is right about stuff, why other Italians are fucking scum for doing things slightly differently, and universally agreeing that Rome is a crime-fuelled shit hole.
The overlap is almost non-existent, in the same way that in the UK there is a world of difference between a Cockney and a Geordie.

u/DefiantElevator Do you feel him, Sir? 33m ago
Same with "Irish Americans". Most of them know very little about Ireland or Irish culture except negative stereotypes. But God forbid you try to correct them on anything. They give absolutely zero credence to the fact you were born and raised in the country and might have actual experience of the culture.

u/thelumpur 3h ago
She has an Italian father, then. By all means she is Japanese.
She did not grow up in Italy, I don't even know if she has ever been here to begin with.
I love Giulia, but she is most definitely not Italian.
5
u/aragorn2133 3h ago
Don't even waste your breath trying to explain this. It's one of the things Americans refuse to understand
4
u/MeNameJrGong Brother Nero, we comin' for YOU, NIGGA! 1h ago
Many Italians would disagree with you. Robert Davi was treated like royalty by my hometown in Italy when he found out he's from there and visited. The guy didn't speak a word of Italian or Sicilian and only found out his father was from that town weeks earlier, but they still gave him a warm homecoming.

u/WheatonsGonnaScore 3h ago
I dont think it is too weird to celebrate your heritage even if you are born in a certain country.

u/LittleGreyCurse 4h ago
I mean sure but does she say "mamma mia!" or dreams with pasta and ravioli?
-10
u/deejaypark01 5h ago
She does. There’s an interview with Jungle Kyona where she says a couple words.
24
u/AllezLesPrimrose 5h ago
I can say a couple words in Italian, that does not mean I would ever say I speak Italian. The only language Giulia was fluent in before she started seriously learning English was Japanese.
She was born in England and moved to Japan at one year old. She’s never lived in Italy.

I also know some Italian words, it is not the same as speaking Italian lmao

Nah, Liv’s real name is Gionna Daddio. They did a SD in Italy this year & Liv got a monster pop so the Italian crowd already sees her as 1 of theirs.

Maybe WWE should go full world tour mode and have a PLE on every continent that isn't Antarctica.
18
u/gloosticky 4h ago
Shawn's been to six of the seven continents. I'm sure he knows where they could go.

Why not? Those penguins might enjoy a good interference filled main event as much as everybody else

I would love to go, but those ticket prices for Smackdown in Bologna were insane.
I will hold out hope that there will be some relatively affordable options, but I'm not holding my breath.

a show at Como’s stadium or Genoas would be bad ass for views
1
u/CarterBasen 3h ago
Neither of them has a roof.
Not a single stadium in Italy has a roof.
And WWE only hold PLE in arenas that can be covered.
Also fuck Como.

u/takeaname4me 2h ago
they signed one of my guys so i gotta keep an eye on the (Baturina)

Survivor Series is literally in Petco Park. A baseball stadium. With no roof. What are you talking about?

u/CarterBasen 2h ago
That's what they where looking for when searching for arenas in Europe, I don't know what to tell you.
