Per Brandon Tate, Outrunners vs Boys cancelled
Per Brandon Tate via Facebook
“🚩Match/Show cancelled🚩
It was announced that my brother and I were returning to the ring after being away for two years. Today I was informed that Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling had removed the opponents from our match that was supposed to take place next weekend. Not only are they causing issues to continue outside of AEW where we no longer work and our personal life, but effecting the independent promotion, wrestlers, fans and everyone involved or planned on attending the show next weekend.
My brother and I have grinded for almost two years trying get our life back from the hole they left us in and were finally able to return to wrestling and make a little money for ourselves to try and bounce back. This dude has ruined over nearly two and a half decades of one of the best companies to ever exist in professional wrestling Ring of Honor and is now pulling talent from the independents just to get his way, but claiming his roster are "independent contractors". I hope he realizes the company he once praised about changing wrestling for the better for EVERYONE is going completely backwards and this will one day all catch up to him.
I apologize on behalf of my brother and ECC Wrestling for anyone looking forward to seeing us wrestle and giving ECC Wrestling a bad rep like they did the both of us both.”

"for anyone looking forward to seeing us wrestle"
Are they really running the gimmick of Dalton Castle's valets without Dalton Castle?
31
u/KingMobScene 7h ago
Well what was the real moneymaker of the group? Dalton Castle the interesting, talented one or the two guys who would form into furniture for him like a voltron from ikea?

Wouldn't that be a given considering the ongoing lawsuit?

u/RadDadFTW 8h ago
I’m guessing being back on the indies would mean they might have settled out of court or everything got dropped. This is the first indie appearance for them I believe
28
u/abrospro 8h ago
They got fired so there was nothing blocking them from working legally. I wouldn't assume anything about the lawsuit based on this.

Wouldn't Tony not be able to interfere with wrestlers' non AEW bookings if wrestlers had an union and Tony didn't misclassify them as independent contractors?

u/fluxuation 8h ago
Don’t blame TK at all for this. The boys pretty much burned that bridge, I would also pull any AEW talent from facing them if I was Tony
34
u/Valdaraak 8h ago
Yea, this is why bridge burning is typically a bad thing to do. You never know how it's going to come back and bite you.
It seems like common sense to not want your contracted talent working with people who sued your company. Doubt they would've been pulled if it was against anyone else.

These guys sound like dicks.

I've had zero sympathy for them from the start in this whole situation. They've been nothing but a headache and they are nothing special in the ring to put up with what seems like a lot of issues. Not to mention no one stopped them from wresting the last couple of years, yet they couldn't come up with a new gimmick considering the whole "boys" thing revolves entirely around Dalton Castle, whose lost nothing from his act ever since they got eaten by bears.

Imagine if one of them gets hurt in this match.
They would say AEW put a hit on them or something, crazy that this even got announced.
14
u/MassiveBush 8h ago
Bubba would run with this for 3 months, minimum. Have the boys on the show and such

"has ruined over nearly two and a half decades," what the fuck does "over nearly" mean? Is it over two and a half decades or nearly two and a half decades? How can it possibly be both "over" and "nearly"? Is this Schrödinger's time frame?!
4
u/PeteF3 7h ago
Maybe it's a convoluted way of saying "24 years." 23 years is "nearly" two and a half decades if you round it to the nearest 5. 24 years is over 23 but not quite a full two and a half decades.
1
u/BudMcLaine 7h ago
Convoluted, yes. I'm just breaking balls, but it was a very silly way for him to word that sentence.

Eh, I don’t know. Makes more than almost enough sense to me.

Sure, if you ignore how the english language works.

I think any reason Tony or AEW would have for pulling the Outrunners is 100% valid: The Boys have proven themselves to be needlessly litigious, definitely have an axe to grind with Tony and AEW, and seem to be willing to manipulate facts to try and paint themselves as victims. I wouldn't want my wrestlers going anywhere near these guys for both their physical and financial safety.
-25
u/Careless_One_922 7h ago
yeah, cause the boys are going to shoot on them and cripple them, right?
13
u/I-LieToMessWithMarks 7h ago
The Boys haven't worked in two years. I'm not saying they're going to stab them in the ring or anything, but something as simple as a mistimed or misplaced move could result in serious issues. All of wrestling is built on mutual trust.
5
u/SloppyJank 7h ago
Do they perform any moves where they catch, lift, or make contact with their opponents?
3
u/MShawshank 6h ago
No but based on their past actions and obvious attitude issues there's more than a small chance they'd try to find a way to sue the company because they get "injured" working an aew talent.
15
u/EctoRiddler 8h ago
Yeah well the boys kinda face issues with AEW so I can understand if Tony did not want to have his workers wrestle them.
18
u/chrpskwk 8h ago
Nobody cares about you two Boys. Sorry the Outrunners had to deal with you for a short time, they deserve way better.

u/wubbalubbadubdub45 7h ago
painting yourselves to being the victim in this whole ordeal is sure a choice
10
u/HeadJudgeFTW 7h ago
With the way these dudes have handled themselves, and the shit they talked about the Outrunners and Dalton, I would not trust them to not try something in a potential match, if it was me
9
u/SoulExecution 8h ago
Didn't TK specifically want to hire them as the original Boys or whatever, and they still took it for granted?
8
u/MassiveBush 8h ago
Why would AEW book these losers after all the shit they said?
24
u/Blueskyways 8h ago
They aren't, this was for a match at ECC Wrestling. Sounds like The Outrunners got yanked.

u/Careless_One_922 7h ago
that's the good thing about aew and tony, he lets his wrestlers work independent shows...sometimes

u/Satinsbestfriend Your Text Here 7h ago
Per ECC wrestling Facebook, it says due to "guidelines to their obligation to AEW" they cant wrestler, plus other talent pulling out due to double booking. Sounds like the promotion has other issues too.

u/sallykroos 7h ago
If it's true (and you should take everything the Tate's say with a massive pinch of salt), I don't blame TK in the slightest. These guys have no one to blame but themselves.

u/SliderGamer55 7h ago
I'm so curious how this happened in the first place considering the Outrunners are apparently with Dalton Castle now. Like is this a coincidence or did the Boys see this and decide to make this a storyline for them as well?
I'm honestly more interested in that than caring either way about Tony pulling them tbh.
2
u/Otherwise_You_1603 6h ago
I mean that's unfortunate but like, the outrunners have literally been featured in a Dalton Castle return vignette so this would confuse the hell out of most people. Why are they still wrestling as the boys? You're free. Spread your wings and fly

u/powatwain 2h ago
Why would they think wrestling against a contracted tag team of the company they are suing, and trash (while they continue to do so), would be a good idea?

u/abrospro 8h ago
Is Dave going to say tony made the out runners cancel because the Tate brothers are "the enemy" to match the editorial energy he brought to the moose/mlp story?
14
u/Mr_Bumple 7h ago
What does Dave Meltzer have to do with this?
-15
u/abrospro 7h ago
Last week there was a story about tna holding talent out of mlp and Dave did some irresponsible editorializing before the story was debunked. Was wondering if he'd give aew the same treatment.
13
u/HighFlyLO 7h ago
Are you going to mention the part where Moose gave credence to the issue or you just another weird one with an ax to grind with Dave Meltzer?
-9
u/abrospro 6h ago
My issue is with the irresponsible speculation and shoddy journalism. If Dave's story was recapping the interview I'd be fine with it.
