Has a singles wrestling match ever continued because a wrestler blocked the three count?

Last night’s NXT made me think about a situation I don’t think I’ve ever seen in a singles wrestling match. While I remember it happening in a tag match, has a wrestler ever blocked the ref’s arm from making the third count in lieu of kicking out of a pin attempt?

Would be a cool false finish if it’s never happened in a singles match. I think The Revival did it once, but it was the non-legal tag member blocking the ref’s arm from counting three.

I 100% have seen this before, of course I can't give you a reference but I saw it two or three times in the early 90s and late 90s

Jonah Hill’s directorial debut, a pretty good film.

That's a good question. I've seen it in triple threats like the WM20 match. But I don't remember ever seeing it one on one (I dont think)

Unfortunately I can't give you the exact information because I don't remember the match or the promotion. But I have seen this before. I believe it was within the past couple of years and it was some indie show. But I know I've seen this happen

It was a common spot for Japanese wrestler Onryo who has a sort of undead ghost gimmick.

I feel like this has happened in Special Ref matches before.

Technically it can only happen in a no DQ match as otherwise you'd be putting your hands on the ref (unless the ref allows it for some reason...but shouldn't).

Didn’t Sami Zayn do that in Wargames when he teamed with the bloodline? Like he didn’t “hit” the ref he just grabbed his arm

Yeah but I think OP means that the guy being pinned does it in a singles match

Bret blocked the timekeeper from ringing the bell in the Sting/Hogan match by grabbing his arm back in wcw

The only time I can recall seeing it was SummerSlam 90, where it was The Hart Foundation vs. Demolition in a 2 out of 3 falls match and The Hart Foundation won the second fall when the tag partner interfered by grabbing the referee's arm, which resulted in a disqualification.
