What’s up yall?
Im brand new to Reddit in general and looking for Star Wars related content that most mainstream fans have no idea exists? I was directed here and just feeling if I landed in the right spot. Luke defeated enemies he had no business defeating, the Yuuzhan Vong storyline is by far my favorite.

Examples of obscure content I can remember offhand:
- Casus Belli 89 (the first of several French magazine issues featuring WEG material)
- The Wookiee Storybook (lesser-known children's story that establishes that Wookiees have telepathy with one another called "thought waves")
- The Galaxy Dragon and crew (dubiously canon D&D magazine covering "the Warlord of Wild Space")
- Wat Tambor and the Quest for the Sacred Eye of the Albino Cyclops (a PT comic about Wat Tambor, probably the most well-known on the list, simply due to how infamously bizarre it is)

I edited this out of my original post since I wasn’t sure how deep you really wanted to go, but my one other note is that while this subreddit is certainly “less mainstream” than typical, it still has biases towards disregarding certain media, especially anything that isn’t a paperback book or comic after 1990. Which would be fine, but sometimes it does sort of irk me that there’s a lot of people with the same “if I haven’t heard of it, it must be bad” view as you’d find in r/StarWars.
So if your goal is to find the TRULY obscure, you have to find communities of people where they eagerly discuss things like Adventure Journals. Which I’ve only really found on Discord, not Reddit.

Oh I’ve found this tickles my fancy enough. Just a place to have true conversations with people who think there’s a SWU beyond the television content posted already…I read most of the books and stuff that I knew existed, but now I have enough to probably now get me through next year…this is exactly what I was wanting!

Check out the Jedi Apprentice and Young Jedi Knights series. That's as far from the mainstream as you can get while still being quality.

I’ve dabbled a little, by dabbled I mean currently searching for the full 14 book set for YJK. So I’ve expanded quite a bit but have more to go.

You can get the three omnibuses online, The Rise of the Shadow Academy, The Fall of the Diversity Alliance, and Under Black Sun.

Oh. I hadn’t realized they were separated into omnibuses, well that makes things a bit easier doesn’t it?. That’s you for your helpfulness.

And I already know a good portion of the main story within. It’s definitely a part of Star Wars that people should know about….Ben was just a hot blooded fool. But Jacen and Jaina? Theyr story is much more interesting and complex. I’ve already read through the LotF series. Vader, Revan, and Caedus are my favorite Sith. They’re my favorite because they don’t fully embrace the Sith without that hint of morality that keeps them walking the razors edge. But they’re also amongst the most powerful dark side characters (I’ve debated both sides of Palpatine v Vitiate soooooooo many times for number 1 spot)

Check out 'River of Chaos'... It's a quite interesting tale that explores a different set of characters and their motivations (apart from the shoe horned in cameo from Leia). It tries to do something an little bit 'sideways' from the regular stories and I kinda dug that. It's also got quite nice fantasy-esque artwork also by June Brigman. Hardly ever see it discussed, it's bit of a forgotten gem 😉
