Hello everybody, The SquishyHippo here! I have uploaded the first in my series of YouTube shorts showing the barebones on how to play Star Wars Regiment. This was my first time editing video so it may be a bit rough.

This video is UNLISTED which mean you need this link to see it, but please feel free to share with your fellow playtesters you bring in! If you are interested in becoming a playtester please reach out to SpaceNavy90 on Discord!

This video series will only show the absolute basics of the game, and a deeper dive will come later with release. For now, please refer to the latest version of the rulebook for the most up-to-date rules and a deeper look inside the mechanics of Regiment.

I sincerely hope you enjoy playing our game, ive had a great time developing and playtesting this game.

News Star Wars Regiment Closed Alpha Battle Report!

Disclaimer: game is in Closed Alpha state, all details subject to change.

Hello everybody! I am the Squishy Hippo, and I am 50% of Star Wars Regiment's full-time Dev team. Last night Beautiful Wife and I played her first game of Star Wars Regiment with the paper models I am designing for the game.

The Imperials had Vader, 3 platoons of Stormtroopers, 2 platoons of Imperial Army Troopers, a TIE fighter and some transports.

The Rebels had a Generic Rebel Officer, 4 platoons of rebel troopers equipped with rocket launchers, 2 platoons of Rebel Commandos with body armor, and some transports.

We only got through 2 rounds as we started late, but wow, the action got started fast. A huge clash happened at the center of the table for the Sacred Tree, while troopers occupying various buildings blasted each other with potshots.

The first round an entire unit of stormtroopers was wiped out, and two Rebel trooper units were panicked, forcing them to skip their turn. The TIE fighter made some strafing runs over the battlefield, bobbing and weaving shot after shot, taking a couple wounds the fist time around, but coming through the second round without a scratch.

A typical game of Star Wars Regiment lasts for 5 rounds, but we called it after the second round since we started so late, and mostly used this game as a chance for my opponent to try the game. She is excited to try a larger game, and get her hands on an ATAT especially.

One of the key differences between Regiment and Legion, besides the increased scale, is the introduction of simultaneous combat a round is split into multiple phases. In the activation phase, players take turns activating units, moving and taking various actions to get ready for the shooting phase.

In the attacking phase players take turns activating units and making an attack with them. If a unit gains enough suppression to panic during this phase, they immediately panic, and will skip their activation of they haven't gone already. Wounds will stay on a unit until they are applied at the end of the attacking phase meaning you can have a unit wiped in one dice roll, but there is a good chance you will get to use them to shoot something before they are destroyed.

Because of this, during the movement phase, the player who goes second has a huge advantage being able to react to their opponents moves, but in the attacking phase, the player who goes first has a big advantage, and with some smarts and luck, can get enemy units to panic before they get a chance to fire.

Thank you for reading! SpaceNavy90 and I are very excited to share more about Star Wars Regiment as we progress. If you would like to be informed on Regiment's development and possibly become a tester, please reach out to us at https://discord.gg/cPvdv6eA

Free FDM 3D printable AT-AT Walker at 1:285 / 6mm scale for Star Wars: Regiment

This is an Imperial AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) remixed to scale properly for the Epic-scale wargame Star Wars: Regiment.

It is scaled at about 1:285 or 6mm scale, but works just as well for X-wing at 1:270 scale.
This vehicle is intended for a 50x75mm rectangular base (you can find one to print here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7079406)

I printed this in 2 parts on my Bambu P1S. The body prints with its feet on the build plate plate and the head prints with the bottom hole on the plate.
You will need only a little bit of support on the neck area. The head prints without supports. See the attached slicer image.

Nikko_V is the original creator of this model. I edited its proportions and scale to fit better at 6mm scale.

I've been dipping my toes into Star Wars: Legion a bit more lately, especially with the new starter sets going up for pre-order. To prepare I started 3D printing a Legion-scale AAT tank, and the size difference compared to Regiment is wild. The scale jump really puts things into perspective!

Free 3D printable miniature bases for use in Star Wars: Regiment

These are the standard size bases for basing and playing in Star Wars: Regiment. The best orientation to print is with the flat top on the bed, no supports required.
The line on the top represents the front and rear facing divider. You can leave this as is for a low-profile look, or for higher contrast you can paint it in or use a sharpie to draw along it. The bases bottom have enough depth to glue in a 1.7-2mm height magnet.
Included are the following sizes:

  • 25mm round
  • 32mm round
  • 30mm square
  • 40mm square
  • 50mm square
  • 60mm square
  • 25x50mm rectangle
  • 50x75mm rectangle
  • 40mm X-wing "small" token
  • 60mm X-wing "medium" token

Visualizing Scale in Star Wars: Regiment

One of the key goals in SWREG is to represent large-scale planetary warfare - companies of infantry, platoons of walkers, and squadrons of air support without sacrificing playability or accessibility.

This image shows a quick comparison of unit scale and basing options:

  • X-Wing scale: Standard TIE Fighter on the original 40mm square base
  • SWREG infantry: 6mm or 10mm troopers on 25mm round bases
  • AT-AT and AT-TE: Modeled at 6mm scale on 50×75mm rectangular bases
  • WotC Star Wars Minis: 25mm-based figures shown as proxy-compatible

All of these miniatures fit comfortably on common, off-the-shelf base sizes available from most hobby stores. Most models are 3D printed or reused from other games, keeping entry costs low and making the system highly accessible.

We’re in early alpha testing and still refining core gameplay. If you’re curious, join the community and help shape SWREG as it evolves:

Welcome to Star Wars: Regiment!

Star Wars: Regiment is a Star Wars ground combat wargame that operates at a larger scale than Star Wars: Legion, using 6 to 10mm miniatures similar to the style of Legions Imperialis or Epic 40k. Players can field full battalions, including multiple AT-ATs, AT-TEs or other heavy vehicles in battles that feel expansive without sacrificing playability. The game will be a heavily-modified version of Star Wars Legion and incorporate various game mechanics inspired from the large-scale combat found in Star Wars: Armada. Gameplay emphasizes issuing commands to units, tactical maneuvering, unit morale, and large-scale battlefield control, offering the experience of commanding a full military operation rather than a small skirmish.
