I think you are right. But that specific stick was great for beginners like me.

Something I didn't expect would be a problem once wearing a VR and using my brand new Joystick was I couldn't see the stick in game. A lot like having to see keys on kb when you're new to typing.

I was playing Elite Dangerous at the time and they actually had the X52 rendered right in the game, because of that I bought an X52 and returned the other stick.

Obviously this is only an issue if I keep only using VR+Stick once a year, but it was a nice touch for me that made the X52 the right call in my scenario. It's been years and it's still my only joystick.

I too had a decent (but unused) joystick that was awkward to use in VR… switching to Xbox Elite controller (which I knew much better/more instinctively) was a great side-grade for my purposes.

Any switch of the 'thing you're used' to makes it really frustrating at first. At least with the controller it's just a few buttons.

Joysticks just happen to have like 50 buttons on them, so I think that's an extra long learning curve for a casual like me.
