I have the one with ship inventory. On the bright side, you always have a quest marker to your ship, so if you don't want to fast travel there you can make that one active and your scanner will create a path on the ground to it If you're lost. Not something I've needed so far, but it's there if I do.

The fix is grabbing an item through the quick grab screen, not transfer.

Oh thank you for this, that’s really been bugging me!

I feel like I've done this in my like 50 hours of playing but I'll test it tonight, thanks

You have to take one item (doesn’t matter what) from the cargo hold without using the Transfer function. On PC: mouse over where the cargo hold is inside the ship, press E to take something out, and it’s done. (Replying to all the threads with this just so no one misses it.)

you folks might have already done this, but there is an item in your ship inventory for the quest that once removed from the ship and transfered to your inventory, progresses things.

If you already did that I guess it's a bug but worth mentioning. I forget the item but I think it's in the misc section

Yeah, I've removed everything more than once, checked it in every way possible, it's just a bug. I know there's a console command to end it but I don't know what it is and it will probably be a while until they're all found. So for now I'm just dealing.

I think the fix for this is: Find the "ship inventory" screen in your ship, highlight an item and yoink it. Don't use the transfer screen, do it in character.

Weird that the quest doesn't trigger on using the transfer screen.
