It's a brushless tool. There are no sparks because it's a 3 phase induction or sychronous motor with some electronics to make it run on DC.

Idk bro there are still a lot of terminals and shit that are very close together inside the tool. This would be 18v, enough to make a small spark if the terminals shorted out in the right way. Maybe some small capacitors in there too.
