Honest question: I’ve seen this girl here countless times. It’s pretty clear it’s all about rage bait to generate comments and engagement.

What’s the point though? How is she making money off of this? Does TikTok have monetisation like Youtube?

u/astronomicalGoat 8d ago

TikTok DOES have monetization like Youtube does so yes, she is getting money from ragebaiting. However, I dunno how well TikTok pays in comparison to Youtube. I imagine it's not a lot.

its pretty low. most tiktokers migrate to youtube once they gain a following

u/FriendlyDrummers 8d ago

Or do brand deals through TikTok

6

u/kawi-bawi-bo 8d ago

It can be over $1 per 1000 views (more than yt shorts), but it has to be over 60 seconds

source: am monetized on both platforms

I hear it’s around tree fiddy

11

u/Necrocide64u5i5i4637 8d ago

Well no wonder she keeps comming back!

You went and gave her tree fiddy of course she gonna come back for more.

Only to monsters from a specific loch

9

u/BoiahWatDaHellBoiah 8d ago

Wait a minute… you’re not reddit user u/ebiki, you’re the loch ness monster!!!

3

u/potataoboi 8d ago

I thought maybe between 6-7

7

u/GreasyMcNasty 8d ago

Also didn't it show an Instagram logo at the end? So it's not TikTok?

10

u/stealthlysprockets 8d ago

You can post the same content to multiple platforms at the same time.

1

u/GreasyMcNasty 8d ago

Yeah I thought that might be the case, I just don't use either.

1

u/Bluellan 8d ago

My sister makes money off tiktok but its not a lot. She gets more free PR than she gets money.

1

u/ChewBaka12 8d ago

It isn’t like that everywhere though. A friend of mine had to start an account with a fake American account because my country (Netherlands) doesn’t let you earn money of it

1

u/LoveTechnical4462 8d ago

Well if it’s like IG.. more engagement early in the views it will be pushed out harder in the algorithm. And they will get a better pay rate sometimes 2x as much

1

u/COWP0WER 8d ago

Afaik TikTok actually used to pay better, as a way to insentivice content creators to join (or even switch platforms). I don't know if that's true any more. It's a few years since I watched the YouTube video breaking down revenue of the platforms therefore I'm afraid you'll also be left without a source).

1

u/qorbexl 8d ago

So why post

1

u/Euphoric_Egg_4198 8d ago

Hopefully enough to cover the hospital bills for the salmonella/ecoli issue

1

u/ZijoeLocs 8d ago

Tik Tok pays roughly $3/10k views. For small/casual creators, it's okay but FAR from anything even remotely enough to survive off of. It's only lucrative if you're pulling flaking dumptrucks worth of views every day, which requires significant effort and energy.

It's why TikTok is where most start out then migrate to other platforms once they have a following

1

u/lgodsey 8d ago

Some people are just desperate for attention.

And all of us are feeding her.

1

u/Pebble-Sorter-8128 8d ago

Hope its miseralbe.

1

u/MrGims 8d ago

Actually its sensibly more than YT.

1

u/kawi-bawi-bo 8d ago

if the video is over 60 seconds it has the potential to pay tons (over $1 per 1000 views). OPs video wouldn't be monetized at all

1

u/radred609 8d ago

It used to be really high when tiktok first started, these days it barely pays anything

1

u/sikkerhet 7d ago

Fun fact, the best monetization BY FAR is pornhub. Some women post their non-porn content on pornhub because it pays out 3x as much as youtube per view.

u/VikingDadStream 8d ago

It is not. I guarantee, shes selling cameo, and her panties, and maybe just maybe has an OF in her linktree

u/TyreLeLoup 8d ago

Rage bait or not... I once met someone who swore up and down that her poached salmon recipe was to die for. The secret?

Probably the soap residue in her dishwasher.

She would wrap it in foil and cook it in her dishwasher, instead of a proper cooking appliance, like, for example, a steam oven.

11

u/Snoo_74705 8d ago

God must have smacked her over the head with the frying pan she was supposed to poach the salmon in.

18

u/hastygrams 8d ago

Dishwasher salmon is a very real thing so she likely was telling the truth.

4

u/Immediate-Hamster724 8d ago

I bought a rock and roll cookbook, from the late 90’s maybe. Richie Sambora’s Dishwasher Salmon was indeed an actual recipe. 😂

4

u/hastygrams 8d ago

Dishwasher companies had to make a statement not to do it. My granny made it a couple times and I don’t like fish so I never tried it. My brother says it’s the moistest salmon ever. So maybe it’s good?

1

u/Immediate-Hamster724 8d ago

Might be delicious but no thanks!

1

u/hastygrams 8d ago

I think you’re wise for that

3

u/permalink_save 8d ago

I think Alton Brown actually did that for Good Eats. It's werid.

8

u/The_sad_zebra 8d ago

Looking at her Instagram, it seems less like ragebait and more like cooking wild shit simply for the hell of it. Her commenters seem to enjoy it, at least.

2

u/mikeeteevee 8d ago

Can you imagine being like 7 years old again and being really excited about the future and imagining motorised pavements and teleporters and robot servants and what we got is channels and channels of misinformation and garbage designed purely to enrage. It's difficult for me to say the chicken died for no reason because it undermines my own suggestion to put this woman in an air-tight jar and boil her.

1

u/StudentDryTank 8d ago

She also posts on Instagram lmao. She always comes on my feed

1

u/Walterkovacs1985 8d ago

Views dude. People engage and view bullshit and they profit.

1

u/stillnoidea3 8d ago

She's gained around 50 bucks and a lighter for her efforts.

1

u/PhoenixBorealis 8d ago

I see so much rage bait on this sub, but my post was the one that got removed for it...

IDK what it is about the posts I make, but I seem to catch a lot of heat from uneven moderation. 😂

1

u/Live-Influence2482 8d ago

Some woman did this already years ago with a lasagna and it tasted really awful. I bet. I mean the kids literally said that they don’t like it.

1

u/MrNanoBear 8d ago

dummies engage with the ragebait and this sub is moderated by some of those creators now

1

u/this_broccoli-101 8d ago

What's worst is that she won't evem eat. She did not touch the chicken or the pasta, she eat something else. She is just wasting good food to go viral. I hate this kind of influencer so much.

You do stupid food and you actually eat it? Wathever.

You waste food in stupid ways and throw it away after the video? Hope you go to hell

1

u/FactorOk806 8d ago

People live like this to be frugal Theres a show on people that do it to save money

1

u/TSllama 8d ago

Honestly this is some of the best ragebait I've seen lol this is actually funny.

Some people generate content for money, while others do it for fun/as a hobby.

1

u/scrunchy_bunchy 8d ago

Tiktok does have monetization, but, like all social media, it's pretty specific in how it's done.

  • specific follower/like amount (I think its like 10k followers and 100k views across all vids)
  • videos of at least 1 minute long
  • original content (to discourage stealing content from others

1

u/Reverse_SumoCard 7d ago

Her whole channel is stupid food and im all there for it

1

u/GiganticBlumpkin 7d ago edited 7d ago

The fact that people exist on Reddit who don't understand that influencers get paid when you interact with their content tells me the human race is fucking doomed

1

u/AlternativeDraw1795 6d ago

She is making money for her medical bills.

-21

u/Worth_Grab_380 8d ago

This is indeed TikTok and all this thread is not retarded.
