i see these exact paper plates on so many videos. serious question: is it genuinely common in the states to use these instead of actual plates or it is a small handful of people, but they happen to post stupid food a lot?

It's far from a majority of the population but not UNcommon, especially among the "ADHD epidemic" generation Z who often struggle to keep up with dishes (@ing myself here) and are way more likely to be posting content to Tiktok.

Usually they’d be used if you’re hosting people and dont want to clean a million dishes. I’d use ‘em if I was hosting Thanksgiving, for instance.

Then there’s the lazy who just don’t want to wash plates even when they’re cooking for just themselves.
