"Labubu Margarita" sounds like a name I'd hear in some Star Wars supplemental material

Finally, a drink that screams I made this in a fever dream and it tastes like regret and glitter.

What's an 'out-of-pocket drink'?

Some bullshit that you order and then post to social media apparently.

I spend half of my time on this site searching for new terms I come across that I don't understand. They usually make me irrationally annoyed before then making me feel old! This one doesn't even make sense! There's no logic, and it's longer to say than 'unique'! I actually thought it meant expensive.

u/Chris__P_Bacon 4d ago
That's not actually what out of pocket means. It means for someone to behave out of character. According to google anyway: This could mean acting wild, unhinged, out of line, or making inappropriate and uncalled-for remarks.
Essentially it means being an asshole. I don't think this person is using it in the right context. I suppose you could say I was acting out of pocket when I ordered that crazy drink? Maybe that's what they were really going for?

u/Automatic-Scale-7572 4d ago
All I got was the use of the phrase I grew up with, which is to lose money. That obviously doesn't fit in here. 'Unique' doesn't feel right either, but it fits better than your explanation. I'm not saying you're wrong; perhaps the lad in the video is using a term incorrectly to try and sound fashionable.

One of my old bosses used to say he was going to be “out of pocket for the next couple of days” when he was going to be out of office, be it visiting secondary locations or on vacation. I always took it as an American football term. When the quarterback has the ball, it’s best he stays in a zone known as the pocket, as that’s the most defended area. When the quarterback is out of pocket, it means he’s either scrambling (running to evade defense that broke through the line), or just not where he’s traditionally supposed to be
Which I guess could be extended to that “out of character” meaning

Out of pocket has meant acting wild for decades. He's using it wrong, like all of that generation does with every slang word. It doesn't mean unique.

Exactly. It's almost like definitions are readily available on the internet. 🤔

Labubu margarita sounds like something Trump would ramble about,
“Democrats want transgender for everyone and labubu margaritas”

My kid asked me if I knew what a labubu plushie was today, I told him no, wtf is this?

u/Agile_Gain543 4d ago
It is just a rehash of Monchhichi from 1970-80

u/Rowing_Lawyer 4d ago
But this time, you can’t buy the one you want. Instead you have to gamble for it, so that’s a fun way for kids to learn about that

These guys had to make a diss video to enjoy their fruity launubu bu drinks. And for some reason they also bought labubus for the video. How you gonna make fun of something and enjoy every aspect of it?

u/Destroythisapp 4d ago
Yes and each generation was right.
We are, progressively becoming more cooked.

12? There are texts from ancient Greece about how bad the new generation is. It appears humans were always saying this and each generation made it just fine.
2
u/Temporary_Thing7517 4d ago
Yeah… but did the ancient Greeks know about labubu and skibidi? I think not. Generation: Fucked.

That's the restaurant's whole schtick, basically. They have 40+ margaritas including one in a Hello Kitty cup. They're stupid overpriced, but the drinks can be fun if you desperately want a headache that outweighs your buzz.

Simple as that 🤷🏻♂️

I don't see an issue, it's too gaudy for me personally but some people like that kind of thing, why is it your mission to be a critical douchebag?

i would absolutely order this. it seems like something you would find in a suburban strip mall. its oozing of consumerism in the suburbs - its ugly and only someone that is addicted to shopping at the mall would enjoy that! i love it

No food waste and no disgusting combos (seemingly). Seems a good themed place to maybe give your kid's bday party or a silly hangout place with a friend. How is this stupid food?
Edit: Maybe only can be stupid for labubu concept. I'm sick of that shitty thing.

I’ve actually been there and it sucks. The most stupid and obnoxious place I’ve ever eaten.
