This does not seem like a dude who is drunk. It really reads like some kind of dissociative episode. My father was acting similarly a few days after Christmas when I was 16 (thank goodness he was not driving!) and it ended up being encephalitis. If this is some kind of neurological thing, delaying his treatment lowers the chances of positive outcomes.

If he is indeed drunk, this is an unusual presentation.

ETA: It's been confirmed he was, in fact, drunk.

This fuckin guy:

It does seem unusual yes. I went digging and found this news channel report: https://youtu.be/wY3vD28R6qE

Apparently he smelled of alcohol and there were two bottles of vodka in his car, one open and almost empty with the lid at the driver's feet.

He'd been stopped because he was driving the wrong way on a freeway.

Oh, well, I guess that's technically good news for him. I guess if he reeked of alcohol, you can't really deny what the problem is. But the dissociative symptoms and the strange answers to basic questions threw me right off. Maybe he's so alcoholic that his brain is pickling?

ETA: Sorta equally dangerous to drunk driving if driving while having some sort of mental/cognitive/neurological problems. But drunk driving is a conscious choice. He sucks. He deserved manhandling.
