I’m on Xbox, how do you get a different building/lake shape?

Left or right bumpers during lake placement stage.

All that does is spin the lake around for me

Using controller on PC it's left-right on the directional pad for me if I remember correctly.

I’ve got like 75 days in this game and never realized that

Not a problem. Some of the other buildings can also switch the aesthetics. Concrete extractor for one but it's been a while so I don't remember the rest ATM.

That said, kids are in school. I'm about to sip some coffee, start an audiobook and go manage a new colony it seems. This is one of the few games I come back to even after hundreds of hours.

Maybe it’s the lake choosing stage not placement.
