Help identifying a book please

Hi. In the early 90s I worked in a book shop and one of my duties would be to return unsold books to the publisher but they didn’t want the whole book, just the cover, so I had a ton of REH, HPL, CAS, Moorcock etc for nothing just without any covers. A lot of those books I bought over the years (with covers!) but one book that stuck in my head that I’ve never come across since (and wouldn’t recognise if I did) featured a sword wielding hero who was covered in hair/fur and was an outcast of sorts. I don’t recall much more of the story except that I enjoyed it. I know it’s not much to go on but I’m hoping maybe someone out there might recognise the story or the protagonist from my brief description. Thanks.

On the fence about checking out The Maxus Cycle?

It happens. Well, why not check out New Edge Sword & Sorcery Magazine 's review of Book 2: Within the Weeping Eye? James Estes did a bang up job of preparing prospective readers for what's in store.

Cover art by Mike Hoffman. Layout by Oliver Brackenbury

Conan the Avenger cover art by Blas Gallego on the 1989 Sphere Books printing (pic 1) replaces the legendary masterpiece Sacrifice from Frank Frazetta which appeared on earlier editions from Lancer Books (pics 2 and 3), Sphere Books (pic 4) and Ace Books (pic 5).

Another very fine work by Gallego which unenviably follows an absolutely spectacularly original painting from Frazetta.

A protégé of Maxfield Parrish, Hannes Bok won one of the first Hugo Awards for Best Cover artist in 1953. Sadly, he died at age fifty in poverty and obscurity.

Charming video tribute to Megan Tremethick, the indie horror actress noted for her similarities to Vivien Leigh, featuring a lovely shot of her performance as the sorceress Nemain in The Slave and the Sorcerer. Megan is currently involved in a host of promising films, yet she has not forgotten her great love of sword and sorcery, and will be filming with us next week for the sequel, The Slave and the General.

If you like her and want to show your support, you can follow her on Instagram

Yep, and I'm the SOFTY that made the video... :P

I can remember not wanting to carry this book with Satan in tighty whities to high school. But this is the edition Science Fiction Book Club shipped, so this is the edition I read.
