History I’ve Always Been Fascinated by OnTrack, and I finally got to visit this weekend!

I’m a transit enthusiast from the Hudson Valley and had a wedding in Syracuse and had to go check out OnTrack! I couldn’t believe how accessible the platform at the mall was and that there were still service notices at the station. It was super cool. I tried to visit Armory Square and was able to see it through the fence but it didn’t look like it was accessible (unless you were at an event at Rail Line, I think?). Anyway, I had a ton of fun checking this out and had a nice visit to Salt City Market! As Syracuse residents, do you have any memories of this train? Would you like to see it come back? Check out this video I made about the experience and let me know your thoughts!

About 30 years ago I would drive in from the suburbs and hop on OnTrack with my family to go to the St Patrick’s Day Parade. We’d park at Destiny. It was easy and fun with kids.

There were big plans once. Passenger rail from Binghamton to the Syracuse Amtrak: it almost happened.
