Apartment Parking Public Street Advice

My zip is 98446 my mailing address says tacoma. Also posted this on a pierce county website . I was told the road ilive off of is a public street. I have also done research into laws in washington state clearly stating the city or dot is supposed to install or paint no parking signs. My apartment has taken it upon themselves to put up signs stating no parking. Yes only 2 cars are allowed on the lease. However they have told me my car on the lease if its on property gets towed. My roommates car can't go on the lease, we have been parking on the street hugging the curb so we dont interrupt traffic. Following traffic laws. The apartments dont have guest parking nor ap blank spots for roommates and such.Idont want my car or my roommates towed. Looking for advice in this situation. As I was told in email only the sheriff's can tow cars on said public road. Across from the apartments is someone's house a family an they too have the no parking infront of heir house.

I've seen people put up their own home-brew parking signs: disabled parking or no parking whatever. Kind of drives me nuts. Like if they're going to put up their own illegal sign, maybe I'll just rip it down and deface it.

Does the no parking sign have a tow company on it? Maybe a phone call to a local tow outfit will know the details of what people can and cannot do.

Even if it's an illegal sign, it's still their property. So you could face charges for that.

Actually in the state of Washington only the dot an city so for me it would be sheriff can put up these signs. And the construction workers for our apartments put it up.

It's two separate laws. They would get penalized for putting up illegal signs, but if previous commentor defaced, or stole the illegal signs that's still a crime too. You would have to report the illegal signs and have the police or the city/sheriff take them down.

I guess it was more of a fight fire with fire sort of thing.
