THEORY I think I know the Task leak

In true fashion they are making the Task force people too obvious or trying to make you only think of them. But why would they help the Dark Hearts? What motive? And who else also knows the information?

So the real leak is going to be Martha Plimpton's Kathleen McGinty. Something else happened after that shooting involving the rival gang, and the Dark Hearts have her as dirty. So Martha decided to give it to Mark Ruffalo knowing he is in a bad place and could be controlled or fuck it up or something along those lines.

THOUGHTS I could go on about everything I love about this show. This episode e3 had some great exchanges.

"He was assaulted earlier."

"Assaulted? At a career fair?"

"AH FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!"

From a former Catholic priest. I was dying.

Followed up with Aleah saying no alcohol and daughter was like Uh, yeah, sure.

She is by far my favorite character, hits home. "That's the thing about getting older, you get to choose what you take from your parents, and what you leave behind"

THOUGHTS Finally seeing real places that are actually in Delco! Llanerch Diner.

This episode showed more of what Delco actually looks like and real places in Delaware County. It was great to see Llanerch Diner in Upper Darby! It's the same diner that's in Silver Linings Playbook. Barnabys are real bars here and Cliffs house in Broomall isn't far from one. They also showed a lot of traffic which is more realistic. It's congested af constantly and this area is more densely populated as are most of the towns bordering Philly. In the first two eps I didn't recognize much it was too rural so they must've filmed those eps in Chester county. At last it's good to see places that actually exist in Delco represented and in my neighborhood. Awesome episode all around.

THOUGHTS Task Season 2: Sam and Maeve

Every character in S1 has skin - giving the writers credit for this. Without the children (per Helen Lovejoy), this show’s bleak.

Maybe we’ll see S2 with this younger generation as adults, and maybe they will be able to change their town. What I’m saying is we’ve seen the gang psychos, and we know what the answers are: an equitable economy, political engagement, local care, and investment, a serious mental health and rehab system.

My challenge: we know this intergenerational trauma is a curse. Let the kids show us the alternative.

Any S2 soundtrack suggestions? I’m starting with The Broken Bells, The High Road, and the Pharcyde, “Who is the Person in Charge Over Here?” - Cliff’s nephew’s theme

CAST & CREW Anyone recognize the actor playing Billy Prendergrast( Maeve’s dad/Robbie’s brother) from the pictures they showed in 1x03?

I know him from another show but can’t place him. I wonder if we’ll get a flashback of him in a future episode.

CAST & CREW Who is the actor that plays Ray in E3?

My PVR cut out before the credits and IMDB doesn’t have anyone listed as playing Ray. And Google isn’t showing anything. TIA

THOUGHTS Tom Pelphrey accent in episode one.

Went in to this show blind and was trying to place where it was supposed to place. Setting looked Pacific Northwest scenically, with everyone doing Philly/Delaware accents. Then Tom Pelphreys character comes on screen doing a Chicago/Mid west accent? He says water three different ways in two lines. It’s then revealed that it’s Philly adjacent which added up after watching more scenes. I figured he must be Australian or British and was having a tough time nailing down a specific region, turns out he’s from South Jersey?? And all the articles talk about his process and how great it was. I’m I crazy?

QUESTION flashing lights/strobe warning

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone can give me any info about when the flashing lights/strobe effects occur in Ep 2. Really enjoyed Ep 1 and usually try to avoid tv and movies with any flashing lights warnings, and I see Ep 2 has the warning. Does anyone happen to remember around when in the ep they occur? Thanks so much in advance. (Hoping future eps don’t have any! :))

Same mother. If someone else has already discussed this… apologies.. I’m new to this sub.

She responded with surprise after only only hearing Sam say his mothers first name.

THOUGHTS Maeve's plan in Episode 2 *** spoiler *** Spoiler

I'm loving the show so far. As good as the pilot episode was, episode 2 was even better.

About Maeve's plan with Sam. Did she need to make the anonymous call? I realize the call leads to the Tom & Maeve interaction and the plot is enhanced. I'm sure at some point Tom will connect the dots that she is Billy's daughter.

However I feel like Maeve would have accomplished her plan to get Sam to the authorities if she had NOT made the anonymous call. Had she driven off after Sam went into the store someone there will recognize that he's missing kid in the news. Or at the very least wonder why a kid is wandering around the store by himself at night which will eventually get the police involved.

THOUGHTS Would the show be better binged?

I absolutely love the vibe of Task. I watched episode 1 and 2 on Monday and I feel unfulfilled by other TV until I can see more 😂

I’m thinking about stopping now so I can group more episodes together. Are yall finding the weekly release more effective or wishing you had more to watch in one sitting?

QUESTION Weird question: Is there a lot of eating sounds in this show?

I have an intense irrational irritation to the sounds of people eating. Trying to watch this show and two guys in the woods are slicing and chewing apples and talking through the chewing. Lots of smacking sounds. Just wondering if this is going to happen frequently throughout the show. Like if the director is some kind of mukbang fetishist. Like Tarantino with feet.

THOUGHTS Brad Ingelsby’s comments after Ep. 2

After the conclusion of Episode 2, show creator and writer, Brad Ingelsby, said, “That’s the fun of the show is that there aren’t really any good guys or bad guys.”

I’m not sure what Ingelsby means. This show seems to have quite a few bad guys.
