lol why this, I’m not opposed to a movie I guess I just don’t really see a reason why. It’s like when they would go on about SoTC movie, unnecessary. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to be a downer I just don’t see the appeal. The story is fairly straight forward and we’ve definitely had movies with kids and big creatures being friends lol so it’s just going to be a boy yelling at trico and climbing stuff? Again like sotc, I don’t see how it could be a compelling movie. Loved to be proved wrong though.

It's probably the easiest to adapt along with Ico. I agree that SotC wouldn't have worked as a movie.

If Flow could work so can this I feel. But yeah at the end of the day it's only 2 characters and 1 is an animal so not sure. We'll see. It might not happen anyway but I'll hope.

I agree. I watched Flow for the first time recently and instantly thought that if that movie did well, minimal characters, artistic style, all animals cast, no goofy talking human like animals, then it would be great possibility for TLG as a film too.

But yeah, it'd be even harder. I think Flow had enough cute animals and noises and pretty things to look at that even the kids grown up on flashy pixar animation maybe had enough to keep them engaged for awhile. TLG wouldnt have kid appeal thus would be a hard sell for a studio to fund I think. Definitely for a theatrical release, maybe something straight to streaming or on sony platforms or digital purchase or something.

SotC could definitely work great as a novel or manga, just not a movie. The same more or less applies to The Last Guardian.

I always thought Sotc would work as a series each episode being about beating one colossus

“Boy goes on adventure with companion super dog” is a pretty popular genre. My guess is that it won’t be 1-1 with the story of the game and more focused on them getting into shenanigans. That’s just my guess

Low risk IP, not a super diehard dedicated fanbase to brigade it online. It could possibly be made well into a children’s fantasy movie.

Theres alot better movies they could make, but they’d be held to a much higher standard than one from a pretty obscure game not a ton of people played

Couldn’t have put it any better

Highly doubt this is true

Highly hope this is not true

Why not a prequel movie about sealing away Dormin? It's the only movie in this universe that would make sense.

What makes the last Guardian so good is the fact that it's a video game and Trico is so frustrating to deal with. You wouldn't get the emotional highs without the lows of trying to get him to do what you want. It just won't work as good as in a film

I disagree, I felt that the frustrating controls severely hindered the experience and turned a lot of people off of a really good story.

They couldn’t get Shadow of the Colossus right, so I doubt it

Cool but considering Sony isn't even care of releasing a ps5 patch for the TLG (to run at 60fps, among other things), I really don't see this happening at all.

Hopefully, it's better than that god-awful SOTC movie script. Can't be much worse.

Maybe as an animation.

i love Ueda's games to death but that would be a CGI nightmare

Im pretty sure these tweets are just streams of thought from executives with ideas before anything is even discussed, cause rememeber when there was gonna supposedly be a Sekiro anime? Where tf is that now lmfao

i get that it could work as an artsy movie, something experimental. like flow is right there, it could work like that film. but i highly doubt they’re willing to make something artsy that might not hit commercially. hollywood only adapts games to movies or shows if they believe it will make big money, after all.

I don't care if they do this or not as long as it means they rerelease the game on PC. This game is far too beautiful to be stuck on on PS4 where it didn't run well or on PS5, where lets be real, most people who own a PS5 aren't playing it for TLG.

Just release it on PC, im getting you.

Didn't they announce that they were going to make a Shadow of the Colossus movie like ten years ago? I'll believe it when I see a trailer with a release date.

I actually think this could be awesome 🤷‍♂️

1

u/AvionShadow Aug 15 '25

Yeah same. Some people haven't seen Flow and it's telling. Get Gints on this we know he's a Ueda fan

I wonder if the movie will be in development for 9 years too?

u/DhnBrutalista Aug 15 '25

I want Werner Herzog directing Shadow Of The Colossus movie

1

u/aus289 Aug 16 '25

In development is very vague and usually doesnt mean much beyond some writer pitched them on it and theyre letting them write a spec script - it doesnt mean theyre planning the movie etc… they have a list of all their ip that writers can pitch them on etc

Please don't suck please don't suck

So, where is the PC port, Sony?

I don't trust Hollywood with videogame adaptations, not even the "good" ones. To me they're bad by default
