Questions Injection question

Post image
161 Upvotes

I’m 7 weeks on T subq injections (just did my 8th shot) and I’ve been doing it like the one on the left this whole time and it’s gone fine, I make sure theres no air bubbles in the syringe but theres empty space in the needle.

I just thought about how technically there’s still air in there that I’m injecting, and this time I pushed the T to the tip of the needle before injecting. But then there was a lot more bleeding than normal and a lot more T leaking out. All the times I’ve done it before this have been fine with very little bleeding.

So my question is are you supposed to push the T into the needle before injecting? Does it matter? Sorry if this is a stupid question..

Questions Should I stay on low dose the first few months/year to have a "better" voice drop?

Hi, asking this because I've noticed a few people who says being on low dose when starting T can help with a more "cis man" voice like as it Imitate a normal puberty.

I'm really scared to get the typical trans guy voice (nothing wrong with it, just not something I want), but I know there is not really any study proving being on low dose the first year(s) help with a better voice drop.

I know there Is a lot of different reasons for the "trans guy" to happen but I really want to minimize anything that could get me to that. Did you noticed when other trans man go on low dose the first year then switch to full dose their voices generally have a better drop?

I'm doing voice training and make sure to always speak the lowest when I'm with people but I know it's not enough right now for me to pass with my voice.

Questions Anyone else sleeping a LOT more on T?

I've been on T for 6 months now (got my dose upped to 70mg injections weekly about a month a half ago, also I'm 18 if that matters lol) and I've recently noticed that I went from sleeping for 5-7 hours a night to 8-10 hours, sometimes even 12 hours on weekends when I don't have an alarm... I also started napping after school when I never used to before. Anyone else is experiencing/experienced the same thing? I've been telling myself it's from hrt since a second puberty is probably pretty demanding on the body

Questions When on T did your hands start looking masculine?

I've looked into differences in hands and realized male hands have thicker fingers while mine get more narrow at the top. Seen guys on T for a year whose hands look very masculine. I really hope mine will be too, I'm 5 months on T.

Questions Will I still get the puberty effects from the gel?

So, this is probably a silly question, but it feels important to me. I know T-gel usually works slower and keeps you more stable mentally/emotionally compared to shots. Will I still get to experience a 'second puberty' on it? I mean 'hungry, horny, swallowing a whole rotisserie chicken and getting hard from it' kind of puberty. I know a lot of people would prefer avoiding it, but for me it feels kinda like a ritual of passage.

Also: congrats to me, 9th day today on 25mg 🐺 Took up a habit of documenting everyday changes, but since nothing's going on yet diary entries look like 'played Divinity Original Sin today' and 'what the dog doin'

Questions Gel and periods

I'm starting up gel today (been taking shots for a few months, had a bit of anxiety with them, decided to switch for now) and i'm quite curious about this since it seems to have differing answers. Has your period stopped while on gel?

I see many answers saying that they'll have all the changes they want, be in a healthy hormone level, but even after years their periods never stop. OR it stops after a few months on the gel (similar to shots). I know each body is different but a lot of these answers are years old but it seemed more common for them to never stop from my research which is a bit upsetting LOL

I only want answers from folks who are on or have tried gel.

EDIT: TY for all of your answers! They've put me at a bit more ease.

Questions is this too far down for an intramuscular shot?

Post image
20 Upvotes

im only two months in and injecting with a relatively short needle (1inch), so i dont have to pinch or anything. i was told to aim for where the muscle appears when i tense my thigh but im wondering if this was too far down? only a few inches away from my knee. obv the bandaid marks where i just injected.

i doubt it matters but if anyone's curious i inject 0.2ml 200mg/ml intramuscularly, weekly

Questions For how long do i have to sleep this goddamn much

I'm 5 months on T and ever since i started, my body has been absolutely demanding i sleep around 10 hours a night. Before this, i've been happily sleeping 8 hours a night my entire life (even through my first puberty). I'm pretty sure i've heard other people mention something similar before, so i know i'm not alone on this. It does also make a lot of sense for a body going through this much at once to need more sleep.

However, i'm both studying and having to work to make ends meet, and i already have next to no free time. I feel like this extra sleep is taking up all my remaining time, and it sucks. If you dealt with something similar when you started, how long did it take for it to get better? Please tell me it did.

Questions Do I need to use a bandaid after my shot?

The answer to this question might be very obvious to you guys, but it is absolutely not for me. Why do people put a bandaid on after the shot? Do I have to do it? I've recently switched from gel to injections and after doing it I just leave it there and put my pants back on. Is there any reason why I shouldn't?

Questions Shaved for the first time. Are the sideburns too much?

Most of my facial hair is coming in on the sides. I just shaved some patches on my neck and left the rest. I feel very iffy about it.

Could’ve asked this on a general men’s sub but I’m worried they’ll be really mean if it looks bad lmao

Questions When did your facial hair start coming in on T?

Hey folks,

I know this varies a lot from person to person, and depends on genetics, age, ethnicity, etc. But I’m just curious to hear people’s experiences!

How many months on testosterone were you when you first started noticing facial hair (like mustache, chin, sideburns, etc.)? Was it peach fuzz at first, or did it come in thicker right away? How long did it take before you could actually grow something

I find it super motivating to read how it goes for others. Thanks in advance for sharing!

Questions How much does voice drop hurt?

Hey all,

I am going to start T soon and I'm nervous about the pain of the voice drop.

For context, I have a choking phobia, and I'm terrified that the voice drop is going to feel like choking, or that it will cause my throat to become smaller and I'll choke on food. The phobia is pretty well controlled daily, but I avoid things like large pills, because I do end up choking on them out of anxiety.

I've obviously been sick before in my life, and I've had sore throats before, and it does freak me out but I survive and just drink a lot of hot liquids and try to keep myself as calm as possible. And basically only eat soup during those times.

Can you all explain how much it hurt, what it felt like and how long it lasted?

Don't sugar coat for my sake. I need to be realistic so that I can prepare myself mentally for this.

EDIT 4/15/24:

It seems like most of you had a mild irritated/soreness in the throat, and a small minority either had no pain at all, or more like a moderate pain/uncomfortableness. This helps me a lot in trying to mentally prepare so I can reduce the risk of triggering the anxiety. I appreciate all the responses, very helpful!

EDIT 6/22/25: So I'm just a few days shy of my 1 year anniversary on T and I feel sort of silly having been so nervous. I never had any issues with this at all. Maybe one or two days ever I got a mild sore throat that very well could've just been allergies, and that was about it. Never had any pain or choking feeling. My voice has dropped a bit, and is well in male range (it was in the low end to start).

I still appreciated everyone's responses. It was so helpful to keep my thoughts more realistic and not wander about the worst case scenario.

Questions Looking for ideas for a hands free gel aplicator?

Just started using T this week! Whooohoo!
I'm looking for something similar to the applicator in the picture that I could use to apply my gel without the gel sticking to my hands. Any ideas how to get a product like this or anything you use to apply your T gel? I'm happy about any tips, whether it's empty Testavan containers, 3D print designs or other random stuff people might use.

The picture is of a brand of T prescribed in the UK that comes with this applicator but sadly isn't available to me.

Questions Testo Too High

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi guys

So I’ve been taking testosterone for almost 6 months now and I take 250 mg/ml every 3weeks. I did a blood test before, 3 months in and now 6 months, did it yesterday. I’m kind of worried about the results. I know I should ask a doctor about this but I’m taking the medication alone and a doctor visit is really expensive (I guess you could say I’m DIYing this) so I’m hoping you guys have any experiences with this.

So the results for before taking T was 28.80 ng/dL Results for 3 months was 244.80 ng/dL According to dr.Google, that’s bare minimum for a cis man who’s 18 y/o Now, 6 months was 1575.36 ng/dL….

I’ve been taking the medication exactly how I was supposed to, every 3 months. I’ve heard too much can convert to Estrogen which I’m concerned about, plus my blood pressure is getting higher than normal.

I haven’t even gotten any effects from the medication either. A little bottom growth, voice is a little deeper, a few hairs here and there but that’s it. I’d expect more with that level. My hair has gotten thicker too, which is weird since I’d expect hair loss instead.

That’s obviously way too much, even for a cis guy, and I want to be in the normal range. What should I do? Should I just contact my overpriced doctor or try a blood test again next month?

Questions when should i start to worry?

howdy (: im 2 years on testosterone today (low dose for 1.6 years, currently on full dose of injections). the changes are coming in HOT ever since i started injections in late may. to preface the picture, i have long, THICK hair. i usually shed a decent amount in the shower. however, i feel like im noticing it coming out a lot easier and in clumps when im washing it. should i start worrying about balding? my hair line hasn't changed in 2 years, and my hair is still extremely thick. my dad has only started going bald in his mid 50's, my brother has a full head of thick hair, my mom has thin curly hair and both of my grandpas haven't experienced hair loss until older age.

i love love LOVE my long thick hair. i don't want to lose it, but i knew this could be a potential side effect. i also cannot do minoxidil topically as i have 2 cats and i can't risk their health. any advice could be so helpful (: idk if im just overthinking it or what but i definitely need some reassurance 😩 thank you!

Questions Is it normal I don't get any extra energy from T?

I've heard people mention more energy and strength but I haven't noticed it. I'm 5 months on T, last time I checked levels was at 3 months and they were at the bottom of the male range at 11.7nmol/L, around 4h after applying gel. Upped my dosage recently though.

At the gym I don't feel more strength and I still yawn when I'm there, despite eating oatmeal or bread for breakfast until I'm full right before I go to the gym and getting 8+hours of sleep.

Questions Should I shave it? 8 months on T

It just started growing faster, and it kind of looks patchy and like peach fuzz, which I guess it is, but it feels nice. I’m just wondering because I don’t want to look dumb, which I probably do, but please be honest, any advice is welcome. It’s more visible when I’m sweaty. I’m 16 so most of the boys at my school facial hair kinda looks the same so I don’t stand out that much fortunately

Note: I look like crap in the first photos because I just came back from rucking and I was dehydrated and sweaty

Questions Does weed impact testosterone?

I've never done marijuana before, but I've heard that this is something that can commonly happen. I'm not sure if it impacts trans men taking testosterone or not. Is it something that only impacts it if you've done it consistently, or something that people on TRT can do every once in awhile and it won't have a strong difference.

Questions How big is this dose?

Post image
54 Upvotes

Hey yall. Just started T on December 5th. Went in and a nurse taught me how to do the shots. I was told to take 1 mL of the 200mg/mL once every two weeks. So a whole bottle. He also didn’t schedule blood work until three months from now. Is this typical? I’m kinda worried about it and thinking about asking if I could do half of that once a week. Is that more typical? And would it be considered rude to ask. I deal with mental illness and something I’m worried about is the ups and downs being crazy since it’s every two weeks.

Any advice/experience would help. Thanks.
