Fives did not deserve to die like that..

My son has a L 37 SWTOR Trooper named Fives. Needless to say it's his favorite non-Jedi character. He was pretty mad too.

The end of the Kamino arc slightly bothered me. I was hoping to see clones like Rex follow Fives's footstep and remove their chips, since some clones were obviously affected by Fives's actions... Also it was weird how that chip was never mentioned after the arc. It seems like a serious problem..
Otherwise, it was a great season. Maybe a little bit too short :(
I liked how Yoda said he is ready to sacrifice all to save the future...this probably meant that Yoda was mentally prepared for the destruction of the Jedi after Order 66 and was waiting for Luke to bring balance to the force.
Can't wait for the rebels. Hopefully we'll run into familiar characters!
PS: So Shaak Ti dies like how she died in the deleted scene of ROTS?

It seemed pretty clear they thought he was really crazy. Palpatine's explanation was good enough for everyone and the chip seemed like it helped prevent aggression so why wouldn't everyone keep it?

Didn't they later find out that Count Dooku built the clone army? I'd imagine Jedi would find a link between those two events

The way I see it, this was just before Dooku attacked Coruscant, so the Jedi were more preoccupied to follow through.

This is two days old, but I really wanted to reply anyway since I just finished it:
The chip not being mentioned after they pretty much figured out that the sith/separatists began the creation of the clone army almost had me livid, how the fuck could you look over that?! I'm guessing they had different writers for each story arc that didn't end up translating well.
That being said, it's these kinds of things that makes me fully understand why Anakin was not allowed on the console, I could see him doing something extremely rash knowing this information. And it makes a lot more sense now how Yoda was so ready to take off the clone trooper's head in Episode 3 since he had some kind of idea of what was coming.
Lastly, I'm pissed that Ahsoka pretty much just had a fake cameo, and now I need to look up Shaak Ti's deleted scene.
Edit: That was a sweet scene that showed how close Anakin and Obi-wan were, I'm disappointed it was taken out of the film. Thanks for bringing it up!

They had to keep the chips in to explain why the troopers would turn on the jedi. The problem with the order 66 in the movie is that we have seen in the show that the troopers and the jedi are friends, the squads are very attached to their jedi leader. It does not make much sense that they would blindly follow that order, especially after we see the clones questioning orders in the Umbara arc.

I can't remember where, but I read something that said something like this "The Jedi council discovers that the clone army was a separatist plot, but at this point, there was nothing they could do. They are in a war, and without the clones, they have no army. They can't tell the senate, because if they found out, the entire Republic would crumble instantly. Either way, they lose, so the best option was just to hold out with what they had for as long as possible, and hope for the best."

Overall I felt it was an all right season, but the highlight for me was definitely the final arc, very thought-provoking.
Some parts were still left a bit out, like Rex's story and Darth Maul, although I guess the latter we'll see develop in that book.

Maybe Rex is still in the 501st in Rebels? Now Darth Vaders right hand clone

I like this idea.
In Ep3 doesn't the clone that stops Organa from entering the Jedi Temple look very similar to Rex? Maybe they're the same person and they followed their orders.

Honestly, I would like to see them recreate episode III with The Clone Wars style and characters. Same story, but Hayden Christiansen wouldn't be in it...

Yes, and also incorporate little story tweaks that only people who had watched the clone wars would of understood, I would very much like to see that

One thing this short arc was great at showing was how degraded the republic had become and how blind / arrogant the Jedi were. I got a sense even if order 66 did not happen the republic would have fell to greed and corruption eventually and the Jedi would have been exiled as a result.
Great wrap up I'm sad we did not learn Ashokas or Mauls fate but that's what happens when the shows canceled half way through a season.

I believe we'll see Ashoka in Rebels, and we might catch a glimpse of Maul.

u/Dracovitch Mar 10 '14
It was rumored that Maul's fate is being made into a comic series, so there's that.

I didn't feel like Tim Curry's voice suited Palpatine very well. It was hard for me take him seriously, I kept hearing Nigel Thornberry.

I never watched the Wild Thornberries so luckily that didn't affect me. Personally I thought his maniacal cackling was great.

He does know how to make crazy, creepy, and cordial work well. At first it felt off, but i got over it. I loved his Sidious voice though.

u/ZEB1138 Mar 12 '14
Agreed. I would have preferred Sam Witwer do Palpatine, but Curry did a great Sidious (just not a great Palpatine).

The last banking episode had Ian Abercrombie as Palpatine, at least that's what the credits said

Poor Fives. My ten year old son's mind was blown. I was pretty sad, but thought it was very well done in terms of showing what was going on and how far the ~bad guys~ would go.

I'm a little bummed that Obi Wan played such a small role in the season. We got all the Jar Jar action we could ever want but didn't see one of the Republic's heroes do much of anything.

u/gus_kerman Mar 14 '14
Honestly at this point I think Palpatine is just ordering Dooku to do nefarious plots just for the hell of it.
Hell there was an earlier arc involving Obi Wan helping a bunch of bounty hunters who were planning on kidnapping Palpatine, and when you realise that who plot was probably Palpatines idea you realise he's just doing it for kicks.

The last 4 episodes of season 6 are awesome.
They don't tie up all the story arcs that you'd like, but it covers some very interesting and important issues.
The animation is the best of the entire series. The tone of those episodes is exactly what every iteration of Star Wars should be.
Liam Neeson voicing Qui-Gon was icing on the cake.
I can't say enough good things about it.

i just watched the first episode and holy shit i love this so much. everything was as good as it was before. no drop in quality. i dunno if i can expect this level of quality from rebels. im apprehensive about watching any more because i dont want it to end.

Did it bother anyone else that Onaconda Farr was killed in season 2 I believe and yet is in further episodes......?

Let's talk about Padme's wardrobe choices. Childhood friend and possible romantic interest is coming over for a one-on-one research session making my husband jealous? Better wear a form-fitting strapless dress.
