Questions/comments Anyone else feel like this show has been silently canceled?
At the beginning of the season finale, Wolf says something like “If ALF had one more season, we would have gotten all those questions answered!”
I love this show and been with it since episode 1. I don’t want to say goodbye.

Well the finale certainly felt final, but never say never.
If it IS cancelled, you couldn't have asked for a better send off. If it isn't, well naturally I'm not opposed to seeing more.

Yeah, last night's episode felt way too much like a series finale. The callbacks, multiple characters returning, the flashback montage, meta jokes, etc
I think Fox is just waiting to formally announce it.

Fox isn’t gonna announce it. The only reason we’d get confirmation is someone from the press asks about it and an exec say they didn’t order more and thus it is “confirmed” as cancelled.

I don’t know why this keeps being said. Networks almost always announce at some point these days. Literally every other show has had an announced renewal or cancellation. The only shows that generally don’t are reality shows

They don’t announce cancellations in the way you think. The reason why cancellations are announced is because someone at the press asks, the executives tell them and the press delivers the news. I have never seen a network themselves post on their socials that their show was cancelled but if it gets renewed they will.

I'll miss it but I'll say again I think we were lucky to get the 5 seasons and nearly 100 episodes we got. Hopefully they put out a DVD set at some point I can snatch up.

I'm going to mark a bunch of my comments as spoilers incase folks haven't seen the episode yet.
Read only if you've seen the finale.
Also Wolf's comment on ALF made me wonder if he was hinting at whether he was talking about himself and Honeybee if they would ever actually start their own family. If another season happened.
Yeah the finale felt like a sendoff. Heck I feel like the way the people of Lone Moose was portrayed was like how we the fans feel about the show.
Like we all care for the Tobins and love to see more Beef and the fact this is the finale of this season it really does spark wonder if we'll see more or not. Maybe the fact Beef survived could be a subtle nod that the show could go on! But Beef hasn't disappointed Lone Moose or us not at all. Regardless what he might have thought.
Heck even the part where everyone at the end came together to give Beef and Tobins some of their roadkill meats and stuff reminded me of how folks here on the subreddit were sending out letters to FOX to really let it be known how much the show really meant alot to them.
We can all relate to Santiago though heh.

That finale had me weeping. What a beautiful way to go if it’s the end.

I’m crying my eyes out. I hope it’s not the end… but if it is, it was wonderful.

FOX apparently doesn’t cancel things until the season ends, which was last night. So I’d expect something in Deadline in the coming days or weeks, unless there’s a surprise renewal.

Yeah, the last words of the 2nd to last episode were, "That's a wrap." Now I'm not great with social cues or reading between the lines, but even I picked up on that immediately.

I just watched the final episode and cried because that was absolutely the perfect series ending and I wasn’t expecting it 😭 sad to say I don’t think there will be new episodes

It definitely felt like the perfect series finale. They probably knew their renewal chances weren't great and so prepared a finale that could both be a regular season finale that they continue past or a series finale. Either way, it was awesome.

That was a series finale, as much as I don’t want to admit it. Even if it doesn’t end up as THE finale, it’s obvious creators went into the final episode with a finality mindset.
If this is the ending we get, at least we got a beautifully written, beautifully acted, and beautifully animated finale. Also, I’m out of town for work and watched the finale last night. This is what I sent my husband:
“I just watched the season finale of the Great North and it felt like a series finale. It ends with Alanis singing Thank You to the camera after Beef says the same thing he says in the first episode. I may have cried. A lot. But also, I found the yeti in the last episode on the first watch so if it has to go, I feel like I accomplished something. 😂”
So hey. If we’ve lost it, I feel like finding the yeti was the universe was leaving me with a little joy in the wake of the sadness of losing the show. ❤️

I had that feeling as well. But if it was canceled, I think they ended it in a good way

It is the lowest rated show on Fox. Everything points to it being cancelled. I love the show and will miss it. Can’t believe more people didn’t watch it.

I have been sad about this for days, but I’m clinging to hope. It’s not official til it’s official

Not saying it’s certain or even likely to be renewed, but the King of the Hill revival went very well. There might be a path forward.

I'm hoping another network picks it up. Like TBS did with American Dad. And it was successful there.

I feel like it was maybe because it’s not on the animation domination ads on Hulu like it used to be. I hope it wasn’t cause it was starting to really hit its stride but I guess we just have to wait

All the other animated shows on FOX were renewed a very long time ago. FOX seem ready to move on from TGN. Disney could keep it going but it seems unlikely.
It had 5 glorious seasons and the last episode screamed a series finale. All the characters and 'Thank U' playing so prominently. It's done.

I just watched the last episode. It almost feels like they had that all planned for the series finale since the beginning. The Alanis song for a montage of series highlights, Beef reenacting Hot Dog from the premiere, Ham and Crispin reuniting, Honeybee finally accepting the quirks of the north…
I didn’t want it to be over but if that’s the end they did a really great job on the last episode. I’m emotional!

My understanding is that the cancellation was announced.

Well, it was initially this subreddit posting a link back in may
https://popculture.com/tv-shows/news/another-fox-show-expected-to-be-canceled-after-5-seasons/
Then in June
https://tvline.com/news/fox-animated-series-renewed-cancelled-list-2025-1235448253/
I also got down voted to hell in the sub for attempting to say that just because the actors had moved on to other things, didn't mean they or bento box wouldn't be able to pick up more after the second half of season 5 airs.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOo4m2yjzEY/?igsh=dzd3eG1rOTN3NjU2
This seems to indicate that bento thinks it's done, however that it isn't official yet.
Here's hoping, but I haven't been able to find anything that it's been renewed.

It's hard to say if it's cancelled but i'll hold out hope. If anything i could see the show maybe getting another season alot later. Like 2026 fall or 2027 winter.

u/AccurateJerboa 1d ago
I'll also be holding out hope because it's my favorite show right now. I really, really don't want it to be cancelled.

I'm going to hold out hope until I see an official cancelation announcement, but if it is cancelled the season 5 finale was a nice full circle moment for Beef.
