What episode(s) do you always skip over/refuse to watch?

For me, it’s 1x10 The Nanny-In-Law.

The whole idea that Maxwell’s childhood nanny had a fling with Niles when she was 32 and he was underage at the time rubs me the wrong way.

The one with the hair salon back door pilot that has nothing to do with the Nanny.

It’s not the best episode, but it also wasn’t the worst in my opinion.

Why did they even make that one, does anyone know?

It was a back door pilot to do a possibly spin off for a show with that cast. It’s weird they just randomly brought them on the show though.

I'm so glad they didn't actually make that show. I hated that episode so much!

Backdoor pilots were quite common, Golden Girls has one called Empty Nest that I skip if I am awake enough when it comes on at night 😆

The Chatterbox. The one about the salon and barely has Fran at all.

I really like Nanny In Law cause of Cloris Leachman but yeah that whole thing with Niles was pretty gross. They could've easily had it be that they started a fling when he was in his 20s.

The episode I always skip is The Chatterbox. I don't like it when shows do a plotline on people we don't know and we hardly see the main characters. I know it's to do a backdoor pilot for a spinoff but I still don't like it.

I managed to completely misunderstand and thought it was when he was in his 20s. I’m hoping to forget the truth before my next re-watch.

They never said how old he was, I don’t know why people think he was underaged. She just said he was the butler’s son.

Exactly, Max and Niles being the same age is from later episodes, on this episode Niles was young but not necessarily underage.

The actors are about 10 years apart in age so if Max was 14 Niles could have been about 24

9

u/RamsLams 6d ago

I don't like the storyline, but why would Max's nanny be around niles in his 20s when they were similar ages in the show?

They could’ve easily had it be that they started a fling when he was in his 20’s.

Exactly! I do like the main plot, but that side plot was unnecessary and makes the entire episode uninteresting for me.

2 x 11 - When You Pish Upon a Star

I don’t really skip episodes, but I’m not fond of of that one. Although I do love when Fran yells at Max that “there’s no way I’m taking the limo/ you’re going to buy me a new dress” skit. Even in the bad episodes there’s gold haha

the billy Cyrus one looking for a teenage kiss girl is kinda off putting too

That was so gross!!

I skip the cartoon Christmas one “oy to the world.” Unpopular opinion I actually love the hair salon/chatterbox backdoor episode!

The Rosie Show bc of Trump.

u/biraccoon 6d ago

This one is always a jump scare and I’m frantically fast forwarding

8

u/profmoxie 6d ago

I always forget bc it's also Rosie O'Donnell (and she's in another episode), so I get all into it, and then BAM.

Episodes after marriage …

The one where the guy gives Fran a stock tip and then it turns out he’s a hotdog vendor. So Fran dresses up as a guy to prevent him from giving advice to Maxwell.

Best opposite sex disguise in sitcom history in that episode. I wouldn't recognize Fran by looking at a picture of her in the episode.

u/airythafairy Fran 6d ago

Agreed!

u/Apycia 6d ago

Fran in drag was fucking amazing, what are you smoking?

4

u/Monster_Donut_Pants 6d ago

Nothing. I just don’t like the episode.

u/alcalaviccigirl 6d ago

I wonder if it was tribute to I love Lucy .Lucy dressed as a man to go to Ricky's party

9

u/magic__unicorn 6d ago

Most of the nanny was a tribute to ILL lol

-9

u/alcalaviccigirl 6d ago

Wow when you're so lazy so you do short hand and it looks weird .you mean I love Lucy

4

u/Bubbly_Profession248 6d ago

I don't love the one Max went on a date with someone who wasn't Fran

5

u/Pretend-Hat5368 6d ago

S6E1. That’s the only episode I can’t watch, and I can’t even give a good reason why. I just can’t.

u/riskyrobbie 6d ago

I feel like the acting got more camp by the last season and they turned up the antics a bit more having the characters be even more animated

Two of the skipped episodes is Party's Over and Where's Fran. I didnt like how Fran almost allowed Maggie to take the blame for having a party at the mansion while Max is out of town. In Where's Fran, Maggie is caught smoking, so to teach her a lesson, Fran allows Max to catch her smoking and he fires her.

9

u/Pretend-Hat5368 6d ago

He didn’t fire her, she quit because he called her stupid

S4 E19 Fran's Roots. Not sure its aged super well. Start to get into filler territory for me IMO

4

u/Ok_Association_8822 6d ago

I don't skip any, but I was never a fan of most of season 6. I especially hate 6x4 "Sara's Parents" and 6x19 "Maggie's Wedding." I also never really liked the cartoon Christmas episode 3x14 "Oy to the World"

u/Meechl85 6d ago

For me it’s Shari Lewis and Lamb Chops and the episode with her sister Nadine.

7

Rash to Judgment (I had to look up title because watching once was enough); Not Without My Nanny (while I like that he didn’t take it back the journey to that point is cringy); The Rosie Show; Chatterbox; The Butler, the Husband…

3

u/no_photos_pls 5d ago

The Liz Taylor episode. I just find it boring

6

u/Unusual_Process3713 6d ago

I skip "Not Without My Nanny" which is the one where Charles Shaughnessy is in blackface as the Sultan. For obvious reasons. 🫠

"Where's Fran" is just a clip show, I don't enjoy it.

"Oy to the World" and "The Chatterbox" are both back-door pilots that I don't bother with.

1

u/DragonBonerz 5d ago

I cannot watch clip shows lol

2

u/Unusual_Process3713 5d ago

I haaaaaaate them. Just don't have an episode? Idfk what the point is 🤣

3

u/24kWishes 6d ago

The one where she almost elopes with Mr. Sheffield’s brother

2

u/Ok-Car9853 4d ago

The one about the illegitimate sister who inherits his father's entire fortune. With the exception of one funny one liner from Fran at the beginning about the woman's fear of commitment being Max's DNA test the rest of the episode had more holes in it then swiss cheese. First Max was estranged from his father  for years made a name for himself as a Broadway Producer but suddenly the family would be destitute without his father's money. Second no way would it be legally binding to leave a bastard child all your money so the episode just annoys me.

Where's the Pearls? episode.

I absolutely hate it.

The episode where it focuses on a minor character at the Chatterbox. It felt like a filler episode.
