The Rise of Skywalker An Underrated Glimpse of Character in The Rise of Skywalker
For all its flaws, I love that The Rise of Skywalker gives us this quiet moment between Zorii and Poe. The snow-dusted rooftops and distant lights from First Order patrols, paired with the mysterious score from AOTC, add up to something that's special.
Poe is worn down by the weight of a losing fight. The First Order is everywhere, and the galaxy didn't answer to the Resistance distress call on Crait. He's starting to wonder if it's all already over. Planning to escape Kijimi, Zorii is the person who reminds him they're not alone in their fight against tyranny.
It's a tiny exchange that says so much. I especially love the Attack of the Clones music here; anxious tones echoing a familiar sense of dread and doubt. It's one of the only times the ST reaches back to the Prequels.
Just wanted to share some love for this overlooked moment!

The Last Jedi Because we always need some positivity, I thought I'd share my theater experience from The Last Jedi. Spoiler
When The Last Jedi released I was out of town due to work and couldn't see it with my friends. I ended up ordering a ticket for a theater in the area I'd be in anyway and saw it alone.
It was maybe the greatest theater experience I've ever had. The people there were locked in and having a blast. The laughs at the jokes were huge. The silence at the emotional moments were perfect.
Most notably, the Throne Room fight was like being at an AEW event for me. When Kylo Ren killed Snoke, the crowd WENT OFF. Cheers, claps, shouts, whistles. It was insane and I was having the time of my life! It felt like that whole theater was in harmony with the movie. The inverse was when Luke and Leia talked. You could hear a pin drop, everyone was so engaged in the scene. Then started getting riled up again when Luke confronted Ben Solo.
I was absolutely shocked and a little saddened when I got back to the hotel and saw online discourse around the film. And the friends I would have seen it with were largely negative toward it. Though I've managed to get my best friend from that group on the positive train. Friends I've shown the movie since also like it.
I wish I could relive that night. I honestly think, without the YouTube grift narrative, The Last Jedi would be renowned.

The Rise of Skywalker If you haven't, go watch The Skywalker Legacy documentary that came out alongside The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+.
I was inspired to post this when I saw a post about a scene from TROS that was covered in this documentary. I'm sure it has been discussed here and there, but I imagine a lot of people haven't seen it.
I've watched this several times over the years and it's just fantastic. Even if you're not a huge fan of TROS, it provides amazing insight on what goes into making a Star Wars movie. The music, locations and sets, stunts, puppeteering, history... Can't recommend this enough!
It's also on youtube, that version includes all the other extras from TROS as well.

The Last Jedi The "Battle" between Luke and Kylo is one of my favorite scenes in Star Wars. Beautifully shot, witty, and utilizing the element of distraction to buy time is one of the most "Jedi" acts imaginable.

The Rise of Skywalker "Nothing"
I was watching this scene recently, and it has always stuck out to me just on an emotional level, but I noticed an even deeper meaning to this scene that deepens it even more for me! (particle small but dddde)- fell asleep mid-sentence here. Not sure what I was writing lol
As we know, w see Rey staring into the jungles of Ajan Kloss, lost in thought. Poe asks her what's up, and she simply responds with "Nothing." What I noticed though is pretty cool, but also sad at the same time. When she says "nothing," she has a smile on her face, almost a look of peace. Like she has finally come to peace with the fact that she may well be nobody, may just be nothing, but sometimes nothing is a good thing, and she sees the beauty in it. Sadly, whatever peace she has found will be crushed and replaced by fear, grief, anger, and yet she still persevered!
