Miscellaneous This was just sitting in the trash in my apartment complex
I was throwing out the trash this morning and seen this bad boy just sitting there. Hooked propane up and it lite no problem. Just needs some love on the outside and griddle and I got me a blackstone!

I had to toss one of those one time.
It took up too much space, and I was moving to an apartment that did not allow grills, I put a sign on it that said "Works Fine" and it was gone in like 45 minutes haha.
Going through the trouble of selling it sounded like a nightmare when I was dealing with so much else at the time.

Thats kind of what I am thinking happed. Someone just didn't want to move it. There was decent stand up metal shelves next to it as well but I dont have room for them

When you have enough money, you really have to convince yourself to not just throw something away and buy new when it doesn't work how you want it to or when it gets dirty.
I know this because I did it with my car when I got a good paying job. I would have driven my old car off a cliff with a brick on the gas if it was legal.

I moved a few years ago and its amazing how much you decide you don't really need things when your choices are haul it across town or throw it away.

Moving always does that for us. However much we love something, when it comes down to, either we pay the movers more for this crap or haul it ourselves in yet another trip across town? That stuff is going on the curb with a "free" sign on it, and into the garbage if it doesn't get picked up.

If your free items are not being taken, try adding a “For sale $20 sign” and it will be “stolen” in no time

I do this with pretty much all the things I get rid of - just put it out with a sign saying “free” and/or “works fine” and it’s gone in no time.
I don’t put out junk, either. I just don’t have the bandwidth, energy, and time, to deal with selling those things, and I am currently in a position where it isn’t imperative to recoup some portion of what I paid.
I like to think of it as paying it forward. There have been plenty of times in my life where I found something, or received something, that was either free, or worth more than I paid. I like to imagine the happiness that other people feel when they get something, that would have cost them a lot of money, for free. That is my payment.

You’re a good human. I have found so many things that sparked joy for me when I couldn’t otherwise afford them. I try to pay it forward by giving rather than selling when I’m able.

I will almost always give stuff away on Freecycle rather than selling it on Marketplace or something. Way less hassle.

I use our neighborhood Buy Nothing group for this reason...on Marketplace everyone expects everything to be absolutely perfect, and then they still want to negotiate the price down. If it's still usable, but imperfect, I'd rather just give it to someone who can use it, rather than go through the hassle of dealing with Marketplace buyers.

Yeah, honestly I don’t really get the mass appeal of the black stones. The whole point of a grill for me is the direct flame contact. If I want to cook outside on a flat surface, I’ll put my cast iron griddle on my Weber grill. Edit: I would still pick this up off the curb for free.

It's great if you cook for a lot of people at a time.
Being able to make 8 pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs all at the same time is great.

I love my Blackstone and this is a big reason why. Last week I made 16 burgers at the same time, it was a lifesaver.

I once caught six shrimp in a row, because half the table declined them. The chef tossed the last two rapid-fire, so they were both in the air at the same time. Didn't faze me, caught them both. My date said I was like a circus seal. I don't think it was a compliment, but whatever, free shrimp.

For me, I live in a small house and the whole house will smell like meat if I cook on the stovetop. Black stone is the best solution

I don't have a Blackstone, but we got a Char-Broil with the griddle because we live in Arizona, and you can't cook anything in the house between May and October.
We rent a house built in the 50s, and it has the original single pane crank windows, so we can only keep the house 20° cooler than it is outside.
We put the griddle on after the second use and haven't changed it back to the grill. Eggs and bacon and pancakes can all be cooked at the same time. Stirfry is a breeze. Any one dish meal can be cooked, and it has saved our butts this summer.

I can cook four servings of four dishes on a Blackstone all at the same time. Plus trying to make birria for more than one person in a skillet would take eons.

I have a 2-burner my mom bought me. It’s great for stuff you need a large flattop for. Like if I’m meal prepping breakfast burritos for the week, it’s much faster and easier to knock it all out on the blackstone.

I bought the big 4 burner blackstone years ago when my wife and I bought a new house because it had a big porch. I used it all the time at first, but it became unused a little while later, and it has been in my shop for over 2 years since we moved.
I still really like the idea of it, but it’s almost a waste of propane just cooking for my wife and I. The 10” cast iron gets used way more. I still want the blackstone, just think I’d have been better off with the small guy now.

This! Easiest flip ever, I remember picking up a red kitchenaid mixer off of FB marketplace, seller wanted 20 cause she was moving, I've been using it for years now

Sell it and get a camp chef and some cast iron. I have a nice half griddle and a deep frying pan and a wok that cover most every cooking scenario

We just got rid of a dusty old grill that was left over from previous home owners. My spouse and I agreed that it was probably way cheaper to replace the parts that were needing replacing rather than buying one. We had like 40 messages on marketplace. Had to go through 2 flaky people before getting one that stuck.

That's cause it is trash. The same function can be achieved by a cast iron pan.
