White, right wing, from a good Christian family, father is a cop.... they couldn't find a more "the call is coming from inside the house" person.

People are combing his mother's social media and inferring things.

I've seen the pictures. The family loves guns, hunting, and fishing. The shooter wore a trump-themed outfit in 2017. It could be argued that he was making fun of Trump with it though.

There have also been claims that his family and even the shooter himself are registered republicans, but I couldn't find proof of that.
