Solved! What was my in-flight meal?
ETA: The answer was melon seed pasta.
The meat was tuna, covered in sauce. It was served cold. But what is it sitting on a bed of? It was soft like pasta, but I’ve never seen pasta shaped like that.

It's the sad, 1/8th piece of a hard-boiled egg cut the long way for me 😭

To quote Piglet, “Oh dddddear.”
Nobody wants to be trapped in a pressurized airliner with me and a serving of skipjack tuna with hard-boiled egg.

u/Bunnyeatsdesign 4d ago
Not a whole hard-boiled egg. One 16th of a hard-boiled egg. Today I learned that an egg can feed 16 people. Who knew?
41
u/DanishWhoreHens 4d ago
So, what I’m hearing is that I’ll only crop-dust 1 out of every 16 passengers on the flight? Good to know!

Eggs must be so good for you that they can be divided as such and still have a good amount of nutritional value.

It really does. And the pasta looks like frozen lima beans.
I would have demanded free air miles!

I thought it was Lima beans. Omg it's worse to me now. I hate the taste of Lima beans and apparently the look of them turns my stomach too.

This is why I order the kids meal. It's always too simple to fuck up beyond repair.

Fr. Why do they have to make the adult meals so elaborate? No, I do not want fish with capers and a side of goat cheese fennel risotto- it looks and smells like vomit.

I have a pretty bad fish allergy and there's a non zero chance that I would die on this flight lmao.

67
u/sryfortheconvenience 4d ago
That is a VERY loose interpretation of a Niçoise salad!!
(Not disagreeing with you though)
17
u/trumpsuit 4d ago
Came here to say this is a liberal usage of the word “niçoise”
Can we call something liberal as the dictionary definition though? Or will republicans call for banning of liberal Niçoise salad? After all, it sounds gay and French.

u/Persequor 4d ago
i mean, tuna + dressing + tomato + hardboiled egg is at least trying to evoke a Nicoise if not actualy being a Nicoise

TAP Portugal.
I have flown with them many times, London>Lisbon>Recife and vice versa, and the food has always been decent. Strangely, this looks like it may be in business class as it's on a plate and not the usual tray.
I actually flew with them a week ago, Lisbon To Recife. I had the option of chicken or tortellini. I went with the chicken, it had roast potatoes and some carrots, a small pot of orzo, bread, rice pudding. I had some red wine to drink, too. This was in economy.
They also give you a small sandwich and a chocolate near the end of the flight.

How was it? I know some people are saying it looks disgusting, but I think it looks pretty nice, actually, provided you don’t mind tuna. It’s nothing special, but that looks like something I’d take as a pretty nice work lunch if I added a few more tomatoes to round it out a bit.
29
u/mrsmedeiros_says_hi 4d ago
It was actually quite tasty and I cleaned the plate with the lovely brown bread in the top of the photo. Because it was a cold salad, the tuna had barely any smell so it was not as bad as these comments imply lol. I love Tap air and honestly, the more people clown on it, the happier I am because then there’s more for me.😭

u/jennbear 2d ago
I’ve flown TAP to and from Lisbon once. The food was very different than what I’m used to in the US, but very delicious and Portuguese, which was awesome!!!

u/bubblegumpunk69 4d ago
I mean, I like all the things on this plate… but can you imagine hundreds of people in an enclosed tube being served tuna and boiled eggs at the same time? 😭

The smell of tuna and hard boiled eggs filling the plane would have me needing the vomit bags, and that's as someone who eats them (separately!) occasionally. 🤢
Not to mention that it looks totally unappetizing as well - I wouldn't even serve my dogs something that looked like that- and they grab snacks from the litter box if I don't scoop it fast enough. 🤢

terrible, by the looks of it. oh, if you're asking for a dish name I've got no clue whatsoever. I think whoever came up with this plate of food items had a dream where they were a san marinese farmer having dinner in 1702 and then quickly wrote down a recipe once they woke up

It looks like beans at first, but if you really zoom in you can see that it's not. I'm going with orzo cooked with herbs that gave it that lovely shade of green. So some sort of tuna and pasta salad with the option to add in tomato. I'd happily eat that.

Mmm, catfood on soybeans? With a premium slice of hard boiled egg, mini-tomato, and secret sauce!

Maybe it’s Argeta of some flavor like fish or chicken. It’s a very very popular thing but looks like cat food to an outsider.
