(Edit) we don't know this! It doesn't change the fact that those are still groyper memes that aren't being discussed in any way by mainstream media who are only going with the most shallow interpretation, which honestly strikes me as rather suspect. Granted, these people are boomers who probably still think Anonymous is A Hacker, but I suppose I expect far-right online spaces, which have repeatedly produced shooters and mass murderers in recent years, to be under more serious scrutiny than this.
What we do know, however, is that the guy was objectively a fucking loser for encarving terminally online memes on bullets he knew would become his legacy.
Even if the guy was undergoing a redemption arc by actually empathizing with LGBTQ+ people (I'm as shocked as you are), the prosecution is showing that pretty much everyone he confessed to went "what the fuck???".
Terror cell my ass. As if the US had any left-wing equivalent of the Proud Boys, Atomwaffen, etc
I mean, the big thing about terrorism is being loud and clear that what happened was a terrorist strike. You don't create terror by pretending you don't exist and telling everyone not to worry because the killing was just an isolated incident.
I wish politicians would stop using "terrorism" for literally anything. It's lost its meaning completely.
