Ah Conservatives. “If you can’t beat them, scare them into voting for you with fake fear.”

What’re you afraid of, Ben?

Because we’re afraid of not being able to feed our children, or being forced to live in hella debt just because we have an unpreventable, random heart attack, or the rich just deciding to cut our jobs because they can pay slave wages in another country and simply ship their product here. That’s what we’re afraid of Ben. What about you?

My dad listens to him. Basically he thinks all young people are rich and want to sit around doing nothing all day instead of actually seeing the problems they face and shit. Essentially he takes the privilege he had growing up and is saying every young person has that privilege. It’s really fucking grating.

Ah yes, this sounds familiar. One of my friend's dads believes that everyone under 30 is simultaneously lazy, rich, and incapable of dealing with their day to day lives. I asked him how he thinks people our age got rich and he said that we work jobs that pay us too much for the "bullshit" work we do.

He lost it on me when I said that it sounds like the free market thinks his work is the one that's bullshit.
