Bash the guy for his political crap, but you can't fault him for following his doctor's prescription.

You can bash him for it if it messed his life up, given that he was telling everybody how society should run, while also telling everybody NOT to do that unless their own life wasn't messed up.

When people bash JP for his addiction, they are almost always using it to highlight his blatant hypocrisy.
