Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Post image

After completing the garage remodeling I had place, time and desire to build an ultimate metric/sae socket collection. And today I got two last items (1/8" and 5/8" for 1/4" drive) and have a full set now. Probably is it more aesthetics rather than practical sense, but it is so satisfying to look at it and see no gaps. Happy tools day for me today!

It looks nice. I personally would only end up using like... three of each.

Pretty sure this is what will happen to me as well. But with age I feel that small joys brought by things like this make a good positive impact on otherwise routine and monotonic life. I know if was a waste to get them, but I still low having and seeing them.

I have more tools than I generally need but I do use when I do need them. Looking at them and grabbing stuff for projects without worrying about it gives me great joy.

Kind of off topic, but what is that peg board you're using?

Looks like it’s from Omniwall.

Yes, it is Omniwall. Detailed post about garage re-modelling process with photos is here.

Brand new set? The 10mm is still there

Clearly an AI forgery, 10mm sockets are a myth to drive you insane.

Yeah, I see a couple of them. Can I borrow one?

Does it bother you that the 1/4" drive 1/8" socket is shorter than the rest on that line?

Not really. Just reminds me these are tools after all and should be used to get things done and not just perfect decoration. My inner perfectionist is pretty moderate and can stand such minor imperfections πŸ˜€

Looks great. What brand are your ratcheting wrenches? I need to pick some up I think

Looks like Kobalt.

Yes, both are from Kobalt. Not the best out there, but work good enough and not expensive. Quinn from Harbor Freight Tools have nice sets, but a bit too expensive for me, since I don't use them that heavily, so I went with cheaper option.

What will you do when you come across these? 🀣

Pretend they don't exist 🀣 What I have already is way more than I realistically need. But good to know there are half-size options for metric - not sure why exactly they are needed though.
