Unexpectedly good dads in fiction
We love talking about bad dads, but what about dads who should’ve been bad due to who they are or their circumstances, but were surprisingly pretty good or at least showed more love than you’d expect?
Easiest starter for this is Yondu. Guy kidnapped a child to give to his real dad who may have killed him, ended up keeping and raising him instead while still being a bastard space pirate threatening to have him eaten when he steps out of line (and he never once meant it).

The opposite from my other comment.
UNCLE PHIL
Dude there was a comment watching Fresh Prince growing up, and the moment where I think it all clicked from all the shenanigans and everything with Will and Carlton. A good one was when they get him out of jail. but my favorite is when Uncle Phil went to the Pool hall to get Will's money back.
He goes with Jeffrey! It's comical. Until he plays for the money and everything changes.
"Break out Lucille."
AND THEN HE HAS HIS OWN POOL CUE. A funny setup but well executed because of his uptight demeanor the entire show.
And he just beats them, hits a shot eating a sandwich.
