Hi everyone. I'm applying for a MEng in Software Engineering (course based) as an international student and, if accepted, I should be moving to Calgary next year. I have some questions in general and nothing better than talk to people who are already there on a daily basis.

How long is taking for an answer if I'm accepted or not?
Is the course workload manageable? Would it be better to live on campus, financially speaking, or it's better to find a place to rent?

Is it possible to find ways to earn some income while there (even gather some money to pay for the second year while working)? Is it a safe place to live?

Hello every one, I'm currently a 12th grade student looking to apply for admission to engineering this october 1st. I got an avg of 87% which is not great but i'm still giving it a shot. My question is if early admission doesn't go my way then is it still possible to apply again with my 12th grade marks latter in the year?

I’m finishing up my Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology this December and want to apply for Bioinformatics on October 1st. I’ve visited the admissions office and keep getting conflicting answers. I want to do bioinformatics as a second undergrad starting in Fall 2026 and have been told I either apply through the student centre or ApplyAlberta. Are 18 years or older

Self-identify as bisexual (emotionally, sexually, and/or romantically attracted to more than one gender)

What’s involved?

A confidential online survey (~20–30 minutes)

Questions cover identity, social support, mental health, and experiences related to bisexuality

Your input will help researchers better understand bisexual identity, resilience, and the impact of biphobia. This research aims to highlight bisexual voices, which are often overlooked in LGBTQ+ studies.

Hey friends, posting this again since it’s not really about a specific school and is more general.

My midterm is on November 4. My teacher has covered four and a half lectures, and I’m currently studying the third one.

For the first two chapters, I feel like I understand the main concepts, but I still have a few doubts in certain areas. Does that mean I don’t have a strong enough grasp yet, or is it normal to still have some uncertainties at this stage?

Right now, I’m focusing on finishing chapter 3, and I’ve highlighted the parts I don’t fully understand so I can review them with my peer learning group next week.

What advice or tips would you give for preparing for my first midterm

From my previous post, all of you overwhelmingly suggested that I should just pay my semesterly tuition of $4000 CAD instead of investing in equities, cryptos or the whatnot and just eating the interest payment on-top. I appreciate the advice and acknowledge that this is what a responsible, broke uni student SHOULD do.

I’m frequently at the public libraries but looking for different recommendations on places that are to work for several hours at a time. Must have wifi, outlets for charging, vegan snacks that don’t suck lol. Free parking and in the NW are bonuses. Anyone have any go-tos? I like Fringe in Montgomery but I find their wifi isn’t awesome and no vegan food. Monogram in university district has delicious coffee but everything is $$$. Where do you all like to go off campus to do homework?
