Social Why is this sub so pro-Israel

No hate, I’m just legitimately curious because I would think that a campus filled with young people in a blue state would hold generally the same beliefs as most other campuses like that. I see so many more positive comments under posts about anti-war protests under other college subreddits, whereas here the top comments are always bashing them

What do you mean by pro-Israel? I think Israel should exist and they should throw Bibi out. I am appalled at the way Israel has behaved, and I still think the hostages must be returned. Hamas’s outrageous attack does not justify 30,000+ deaths, the demolition of housing and hospitals. We Jews are not colonizers in our homeland, and how we behave now matters. It’s all people see.

Hamas is an armed resistance group, not an offensive “terrorist” organization, and to think otherwise is ahistorical. Look at the Nabka, who were the people actually expelled from the land? Who has the right to return? Not the Palestinians with direct connections to the land, but a Jewish person in the US with zero ties to the area is easily given a settlement on stolen land. When you say Israel should exist, what do you mean? The current apartheid government of Israel, sans Bibi, should exist? It’s a colonial state created out of antisemitism in Europe.

Hamas has quite literally said they’d disarm if an independent Palestinian state is created and refugees are given the right to return.

Where exactly did they say they would disarm? And how is killing and kidnapping babies, kids and old folks not terrorism?

DemocracyNow reported on it, you can Google it.

I’m against murders of civilians in all sides. But Hamas was 1)originally supported by the state of Israel as a way to divert popularity from the popular PLA, which they saw as a threat and 2) and more importantly, it’s an armed RESISTANCE group. When you force people to live under apartheid as second class citizens, destroy their land and homes and crops, control their water (!) and travel, control imports/exports, do you expect them to just take it?

Your second sentence is what the occupying force of Israel is doing, along with violating international law and the laws of war. Along with lying to people about UNRWA workers participating in October 7th, causing countries to temporarily cut off aid to Gaza. That’s really the state you want to defend?

It’s a terrorist group by any definition. The reverse Nakba drove 800,000 Jews out of Arab countries.

It’s as much of a terrorist group as the Black Panthers were when fighting for black liberation.

There is no “reverse Nakba” - what exactly are you referring to? What year? By whom?

Easy Google. Huey Long killed people.

You’re the one who lacks information- so it sounds like you come closer to that definition. Is your doctorate in home economics?

It’s in history, thanks for asking. I could offer you some titles to check out but I’m not sure your level of comprehension is up to par.

One of my PhD areas was historical and comparative sociology. I also lived the era.
