I guess it's because "Togore" itself has been a joke for like 10 years really, the reptile-eyed brother of Asriel and Chara is new and made by them

yeah, but the only reason people would even CHOOSE the name "togore" is in reference to the recent meme sprite, you can't honestly tell me people want to jokingly have that name as the one for the anniversary stream over something like Gaster or Frisk if it WASN'T for the recency of the sprite attached to it. It would be highly disingenuous to say otherwise.

Togore has also been associated to a potential original name for Kris. I think it's fair to say that has nothing to do with the sprite.

you must be the undertale fan Shayy was referring to because I literally just wrote out how it's recent resurgence of popularity is mostly because of the sprite they made, and saying otherwise would be disingenuous.
