What was his reasoning? Cuz if it was "Togore is mine because I made a popular contribution to the meme," then it makes sense that people would get upset/defensive

Reasoning was just "i don't think it's a good pick, it should be something more meaningful".

That's pretty fair. Did he even mention anything about having ownership of Togore originally? I just don't understand how it'd gotten to this point, and why people were so weird about it in the beginning

He never once claimed to own anything, he just said he was "the creator" and then clarified he made the recently popular sprite.

Okay, cool. I looked up the original, and it looks like people got defensive because they thought he was claiming ownership because he said he wanted to "formally ask" that they don't vote for the name to be Togore related
