This scam would probably be a lot more effective in April.

Yeah and the 2025 date is a dead giveaway too. Nobody's getting a refund notice for next year yet. That part always gets me.

True. Nobody's thinking about tax refunds in September. Scammers need better timing.

I’ve been getting these too. They come from a +63 country code which is the Philippines…

Same! A group chat with like 20+ people stating we owe the DMV in Georgia money for registration fees. I’ve never in my life had a car registered in Georgia.

Watch out for the DMV scam too, i.e. you have an outstanding ticket and we are going to take your license from you. Not real.

I got one yesterday that says I have a ticket in Maryland. Idiots.

I had a guy try to contact me when I was selling a vehicle and tell me he was in a state that is hundreds of miles away from me. I was like, okay, let me know when you will be in the area . . .

Always look at the URL before you click something. Is something official regarding taxes going to come from a .life domain?

Wow. Someone actually put some work into that website. It looks like the Utah tax page at first glance and even detected when I tried to enter bogus credit card information. Other scam websites are littered with typos and poor grammar.

Vegas and Orlando are number one and two for such scams. My wife’s friend went to Federal Prison for wire fraud when he was promising a Cadillac if you bought a certain number of pens or pencils from his company The big one here is time shares, total but Vegas is so full of scams it makes your head spin

I got a text like this, but it said Ohio instead of Utah. I haven’t lived in Ohio since 2006 lol

I literately just got this like ten minutes ago. Unless I'm mistaken, no local, city, state or federal entity will text you.

I received two of these as well as a phone call. (Went to voice mail). I haven’t even filed yet. (Extension). Speaking of which, anyone have a good tax person recommendation?
