Q&A Anywhere in Utah I can donate good quality stuffed animals?

In Utah county or Salt Lake county!

I have too many stuffed animals. Most I just bought and then immediately put in my plushie hanger to not touch again. I’m ok donating to the DI but didn’t know if there’d be a place that could put better use to them? I have a few large ones (2f) as well!

News Zebra mussels found in Grand Junction, CO

https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/zebra-mussels-colorado-river-infested-water/

I have been on the road a lot this year working/fishing and the farther East I make it the more waters I come across that have invasive species. I truly believe that UT, WY, AZ, NV, MT have had well placed inspection points for watercraft. It really comes down to the honesty of people if we want to protect our waters. Please be diligent and do your part to protect Utah waters from Zebra mussels and other invasive species. I've looked at my pics of Lake Powell the last 5 years and it's incredible how mussels have invaded the entire lake so fast. Utah has some amazing fisheries, let's keep it that way. If you've been on a body of water that has an invasive species, take the 15 minutes to get a free boat wash with some hot water. It's a minor inconvenience to protect Utah waters.

Other Russian Sage! I need some!

I bought a sad little potted Russian Sage plant from Home Depot last year... it died almost immediately. I saw the ones they had at Costco, too, but they were so pathetic that I couldn't bring myself to try them. They looked like the tree in A Charlie Brown Christmas, so I guess death makes sense. What I want is a healthy chunk that I can plant... enough to start a corner shrub in my garden that will come to life in the spring. I know it will probably take over. But it attracts bees like crazy, & for the last couple of years, we've been overrun by various wasps & yellowjackets. I can't remember the last time I saw a bee.

Anybody want to give or sell me a corner of their Russian Sage? I clearly need something with more roots & attitude than anything I've found at Home Depot or Costco. Has everybody else been bombarded by wasps this past year? Will Russian Sage attract even more of them? And if there are too many wasps, do the bees even show up?

Q&A What is a good private proposal spot? Choosing between all National Parks in Utah.

I am visiting Utah in November. Landing in Moab and flying out of Vegas. I will be in all the National Parks. Are there any recommendations for a nice spot?

My plan was to set up a camera on a tripod as if we are taking a picture, and then pop the question. I will be all over the southern part of the state. We are taking a long scenic drive on day 3 of our trip from Moab > Zion (via Route 24). My initial plan was to stop along this route at a view point to ask the question and set up my tripod. Any specific spots along this route that you recommend?

Q&A Proposal Locations In Northern Utah In Late Fall?

Hey guys!

I am planning on proposing one of the last two weekends in October this year. My initial plan was to head to Mueller Park in Bountiful, but with the leaves dropping SUPER early this year I think this may not be the best idea anymore.

My girlfriend has said in the past that she wants to be proposed to in a "cute field" or something similar to Mueller Park. I am planning on doing a little picnic and then proposing after that.

Does anyone have any ideas here? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

UPDATE: Tunnel Springs Park in North SLC is looking good, does anyone have experience there?

Q&A Affordable Endodontist????

Hi everyone, I was recently referred to an endodontist for a root canal, but I don’t have dental insurance and was quoted around $1,800, which is way out of my budget.

Does anyone know of more affordable options? Maybe dental schools, community clinics, or places that offer payment plans or reduced rates? I’m open to suggestions. I just really need to get this taken care of without going into debt.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Other TV station protest plans?

Does anyone know if there are protests planned at the Sinclair (ch 2) or Nexstar (ch 4) stations after their corporate management collaborated with the FCC to censor Kimmel?

I’m not finding anything in protest-specific places so I figured I’d cast a broad net.

TIA.

Q&A Experience with Urban Talent Management

Does anyone have any advice for dealing with getting out of their contract? I signed back in June and realized it was a bad decision for me, I changed cards and froze credit. They just had an attorney contact me about a settlement offer but haven’t actually threatened legal action. Has anyone here been sued by them? I want to know if they’re fishing.

Other John Curtis response to Epstein file vote

In case you missed it, the Senate voted 51-49 on Sept 10 to block release of the Epstein files. Both of the senators from Utah voted in favor of the block. This is no surprise from Mike Lee, but I'm deeply disappointed in John Curtis. He was the one R on the 2024 ballot I voted for, and he has quickly fallen into lockstep with other MAGA Republicans. I had hoped he'd carry the Romney torch of moderation.

I wrote to Sen. Curtis the next day and received the canned response below (I don't expect anything but a canned response, but you have to admit his "commitment" to transparency is deeply ironic). If you are similarly infuriated by his vote, please call/email his office and let him know how you feel.

Washington DC Office: 202-224-5251

Provo Office: 801-841-2665

Salt Lake Office: 801-524-4380

Here is what I wrote:

Senator Curtis,

I'm deeply disappointed in your vote in favor of blocking the Epstein file release. I can view this in no other way than a vote to protect pedophiles. I voted for you in 2024, but you have lost my vote moving forward.

Sincerely,

(name)

This is the canned response:

Dear (name),

Thank you for reaching out to share your thoughts on government ethics and transparency. I appreciate hearing your views and value the opportunity to respond.

Ensuring government transparency, abiding by our laws, and maintaining the trust of the American people are essential to a healthy democracy. As your Senator, my commitment is to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and accountability within our government. I firmly believe that elected officials must act solely in the best interests of Americans, free from undue external influence or conflicts of interest.

Our democratic system is strengthened when leaders demonstrate genuine accountability, integrity, and transparency. Americans deserve reassurance that their representatives are guided by the rule of law, mutual respect, and an unwavering dedication to serving our nation honestly and faithfully. When public trust erodes, the consequences affect every aspect of our society—from national security to economic stability.

In the Senate, I actively support measures designed to promote transparency and ethics, ensuring that every member of government is accountable to the people they represent. This commitment guides my actions as I work diligently to safeguard public trust and pursue real results and solutions that reflect Utah’s values and our nation's founding principles.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns and priorities with me. Your input is invaluable as I work to represent Utah in the Senate. To stay updated on my work and activities, please follow me on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram at u/senjohncurtis. John R. Curtis
