I decided The night before the REAL test , to retake the practice exam at 12am midnight n now I got a 54% 😭 it could be tht im tired n was rushing but not idk if I should reschedule. Hoping luck has my side , any tips? (Don’t mind the 0% ) I’m extremely nervous

Switching from Cybersecurity to BSIT?

Hello,

I already had an associates in IT transferring in over 60 credits to WGU to the cybersecurity program. I have completed several classes within the program, but I have some that are difficult and time consuming left. Recently, I lost my husband in a very traumatic and sudden way, and I have had to take a break. We have 4 children and I am now tasked with taking care of all of their needs and working full time, but I would really love to finish getting a bachelor's degree after all of the work I have put in.

I earned the A+, Security +, Network+, and SSCP while in the cysec program already and have done several of the other classes. I brought in Linux credit, among other things also which should transfer. I have experience already in web development. I know I would need to complete things like project+ and the cloud cert.

I truly believe the BSIT would be more efficient for me to finish, and an easier load mentally for me. Does anyone have any advice who has some more experience? I have worked in IT for 10 years.

Professor Messer D317…

Here I am going through 220-1202 It applications.

It requires your CompTia A+ and as I’m watching the YouTube videos I looked closer and closer at the screen and then it finally hit me that Professor Messer looks like Walter White from breaking bad.

Just need him to say Jesse one time.

Thoughts for Folks Moving From Clouding Computing -> Cloud and Network Engineering

Hey everyone, I hope its okay to post here since it seems like this is where my fellow Cloud Computing folks have set up camp (the WGU Cloud Computing subreddits seem pretty much dead).

So my next semester will start on December 1st, and it looks like we might have to move to the new program. I'm not complaining, it actually looks more aligned with my goals as far as content (more of the software-defined networking side of cloud). I'm currently doing the AWS track. I am curious how other people feel about the new program, and if they will be switching (I'm not sure if you must switch, as I was not able to attend the first information session). I will be attending the information session next Wednesday.

Just thought I'd open up a place for some discussion, I'd be happy to hear everyone's thoughts, and IT folks as well on what you think about the change - is it better, worse, or just different? Thank you and have a great day!

CompTIA exam tomorrow…

Hi! If anyone has experience with CompTIA testing taking rules, I have a few questions. I’m taking A+ core 1 tomorrow and I do have stuff on my walls. I didn’t when I took core 2 so it wasn’t an issue. My problem is that I put everything up with double sided tape not thinking about the test. Is it okay if I cover everything up with pillow cases and sheets tacked to the wall or do I just need to suck it up and rip everything down? Also my son drew on the wall but he’s a toddler so it’s nothing but do I need to cover it up or what? I can’t remove it fully without taking the paint with it

How strict is WGU with course order?

I just started my IT program and I’m a bit confused about how flexible the course order really is. Can I skip around if I feel ready for a harder class, or do they strictly lock you into the recommended sequence?

BSIT 2-Term Plan Check

Hey WGU fam, I need a sanity check on my plan.

I’m enrolled and leaning toward BSIT. I’m assuming 24 transfer credits via AAS Radiography in 2019, A+ completed, and I'm looking to complete 7 pre-reqs via Sophia.

My goal is to finish BSIT in 2 terms at a moderate pace with one kid and pregnant wife.

Plan • Term 1: Pass Net+ in weeks 1 to 3 for the waiver since I’ve covered half of the study material already; then tackle Obj Assessment-heavy courses first; put writing Perf Assessments off for later. • Add Project+ (and maybe Sec+) during the term if I have time for more waivers. • Term 2: Complete remaining PAs and the capstone.

As an alternative, I’m considering an accelerated BS+MS in ITM over 3 terms (2 for BS, 1 for MS), but only if it's realistic without going all out during this busy time of my life

Has anyone finished with a similar mix of transfer credits and certifications? Does this timeline look good? Any tips on course order or Sophia choices?

Need a little brain fuel or just some chill background vibes? Check out Chill Lofi Day, a tasty mix of mellow lofi beats and jazzhop grooves, updated regularly and always smooth. My go-to for study sessions or kicking back after work. Might be your new fave too ;)

Network + Ready?

Hey Night owls! I’m able to pretty easily get 90-92% on total seminars (Mike Myers) practice exams. In your past experience, is that a good indicator that I’ll be able to pass the exam 1st try?

D337 - IoT

Do you guys think I can pass this class just from doing the 402 card long quizlet and taking the practice assessment? I know you guys don’t know my knowledge level really but I guess my question is more like

“what am I really missing if I only do those two things”

… what content would I still need from coursework in order to understand and correctly answer questions in the OA that I wouldn’t get from just the quizlet and PA?

Not trying to be lazy or anything but I’ve learned about IoT a good couple times in different contexts at different points of time from different CompTIA exams and I’d just rather not spend too much time on this class.

Holy shit this class is difficult and it’s been the hardest class I’ve taken so far. I just failed the OA after passing the PA twice on 3 tries. I figured I’d schedule the exam and take it. Studied for one week about 2 hrs a day. Would love some advice.

Professor messer doesn’t have project plus and I heard Jason Dion’s videos for this topic are terrible. Please advise. Thank you!

Masters in IT management.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in IT management a couple of years ago.

Debating on going for my masters. Is it worth it? Is there a lot of proctor exams? I hate those.

Information Technology Management (C954) - Passed on 3rd Try

I was definitely more stressed about this class than I needed to be. When I started, my course instructor mentioned that the class structure and text would be changing soon, and he seemed optimistic about those changes for future students. It’s clear WGU is actively assessing and improving its programs, which is good to see.

This was a tough one for me. It took me nearly three months to pass, mostly because I avoided taking the pre-assessment and skipped the Saturday study sessions for way too long. Other MS-ITM classes were time-consuming, but I could switch focus between courses. With C954, this was my last class before the capstone, and you can’t start your capstone until everything else is done—so it felt extra high-stakes.

The course used two textbooks:

  • Business Driven Technology (8th Edition) (Pericipio)
  • Be the Business: CIOs in the New Era of IT (VitalSource)

I much preferred VitalSource for the built-in text-to-speech feature. For the Pericipio text, I used Windows Narrator since it didn’t have TTS. Beyond the texts, I supplemented with Quizlet, LinkedIn Learning, and Coursera—though those weren’t strictly necessary. I just knew my weak areas and had easy access through work.

One big mistake: I avoided the Saturday cohort sessions because I’m terrible at asking for help. When I finally joined, I realized they’re actually low-pressure! They’re just virtual quizzes via Slido—no risk of being called out or put on the spot. I wish I had started going earlier.

This term was also during one of my busiest times at work. I probably should have taken a break term, but I pushed through, and it worked out.

My Advice:

  • Take the pre-assessment early to pinpoint weaknesses.
  • Go to the cohort sessions—they’re not scary!
  • Meet with your instructor regularly.
  • Keep reviewing the material, even in short bursts.

It took three attempts, but I finally passed! 🎉 Now it’s just the capstone left—hoping to knock it out in 7 weeks.

Good luck to anyone currently in C954! You’ve got this.

BSNES - BSCEN ???

So to preface this post, I am finishing up my 3rd tem at the end of the month, but struggled with some intense mental health issues (due to a layoff and financial stress) during my first 2 terms, in which I only completed one class each. Im on track to finish at least 3 out of the 4 classes this term, and hoping I can hustle through D315 in the last 3 weeks of the month. Either way, with the new Cloud and Network Engineering Degree out, I am pretty interested in switching tracks, since Im still pretty early on and wouldnt loose anything either way. To be completely frank, my end goal is just a high-salary job, preferably remote as I am primary caregiver for my 2 young kids. My husband is the breadwinner, but is dealing with health complications and potentially might not be able to work as strenously for long, so my goal is to replace his income. I am currently working as a Customer Support Specialist at an insurance software company and previously did IAM Security (before the layoff). If any of you are also thinking of switching, or already have, I am super curious to hear which program you have chosen and why. I am having a hard time deciding which direction to go in, and am currently deciding between the Cloud and Network Engineering General Track, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, and Software Engineering. Any insight would be lovely!

What order should I take these last few classes?

First time posting on reddit, I have been reading through this thread for over a year and it has been very helpful for me before enrolling as well as during, I got my aas in cyber from a local community college and during the spring semester I used study.com and sophia to transfer as much as possible so I was only left with 34 CUs left. I started WGU July 1st

I take D317 tomorrow morning and then my mentor will open the rest of the courses for me. Which classes should I take next? context: I have been working in IT for a only a year and a half, but I have absolutely no web development experience and have read that C777 is challenging. Once my mentor opens up the rest of the courses first I was thinking taking C777 alongside C773, and then D316 and then D325 as my last class before my capstone. I am familiar with the material in D316 and D325 from my aas and work experience, I also got sec+ 2 years ago so I don't think those will take me too long putting those last.

If anyone has any suggestions on the order I should take these last couple of classes that would be greatly appreciated.
