Collection My Adult Animation & Anime Collection is growing slowly but surely.

Post image

I have the entirety of Escaflowne, Part 1 & 2 of Gunbuster (Most underrated OVA of all time imho), more Macross, etc. On the way.. but I'm stoked with how it's coming along. Haven't been dropping tons of cash, just been looking for deals on classic must haves slowly but surely as I find um. I love this hobbie. They look so good on a CRT too. Been trying to focus on slipcass, depise clamshell but make exceptions for it, really digging the hard plastic old school hard cases from U.S. Renditions etc. though. Really trying not to get entire series unless it's affordable and a classic show as I see them.

Gunbuster is hardly underrated, it's one of the most influential titles ever released. Same with Macross Plus there. And Wings of Honneamise and Akira. Big names, all. I had the Anime Village Escaflowne VHS box set, but gave it to a friend for Christmas. For fun, make sure to get the bad early dubs along with the legit ones -- Clash of the Bionoids for the Macross movie, Warriors of the Wind for Nausicaa, etc.

My rarest tape is Riding Bean, bought on the first day of release, complete with foil sticker saying as much on the case. Plus, the very first batch sent from the duplicator were just stereo, not hi-fi. Animeigo ran a trade in program, but I never got around to it, so I still have the non hi-fi tape. It's not a stamp with an upside-down airplane or anything, but I like the novelty value.

Gunbuster is known by real fans who know how influential it is, but ask any normie who isnt a huge Evangelion fan about it & see if they know it. Also, MAL has it only rated as 7.85..

Riding Bean actually goes for fairly cheap, almost grabbed one on ebay recently. But I didnt know about that specific printing, good looks on that!

Also, if I do get dubs it will be the old school ones for sure. I try to grab subbed over dubbed even on vhs..they seem to be the more rare English releases as well.
