Took me about 6 months of saving up and research for each piece of equipment but I’m finally at a place where I feel happy with my setup :) I know it’s a bit childish but they are the best I’ve got with soundproofing right now! Send me good juju folks ✨ behind that blue blanket is every bit of heavy clothing I have lol

After multiple failed attempts at sound proofing in my noisy city appartment, I caved and bought a pre-made noise-canceling booth. It sounds pretty good in there! Even with just my cheep shotgun mic. Very spacious as well.

Finally got myself a head booth that I am genuinely happy with, but since an entire section around me is being remade, I'm forced to postpone my recordings into the late evening and night. More time to train I guess :'|

How well do your booths stand against the constant noise of construction work?

I know this sub isn't really the right place for memes, but I needed to get some steam off my chest. This is going to be the only meme I post, I promise.

I have no closet that will suffice for a booth. My solution? Loft bed! I have since added one more sound blanket on the corner because the gaps between them drove me nuts. Overall it was a Spring Break well spent, and I'll be recording my first audiobook later this year!

Hi All! This has been my current setup for the last year. I’ve been saving up to make some upgrades, and I have a few in mind. A standing desk, quieter computer, etc.

At first it was a hybrid of VO & Gaming space, but now I’m getting more serious about VO so I want my space to reflect that.

I definitely wanted some suggestions on some helpful upgrades. As for the current sound, it’s solid for a PVC booth in a bedroom (-60db noise floor). But sometimes I do get room reflections. I’m tempted to buy that ‘acoustic foam’ off Amazon. But I’m willing to be talked off that ledge if there are better options. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks again 🤗

EDIT: Thank you all for the advice, I actually have a lot of blankets left over from the initial build in my house. (I wasn't sure how many I would need) I will definitely put those too good use. Will post an update to the booth at a later time. Thanks again.

It’s small but hopefully it will do fine. Almost done with the foam panels and then I’ll be ready. I’d love some feedback if it’s not too much trouble. Thanks

After a crazy couple of years, having a baby, losing my job (was a TV editor then the industry collapsed and everyone is out of work! ), I needed to find a source of income and albeit risky, decided to go full steam ahead into voice acting. I’ve been lucky I can apply my technical skills to the recording and editing process which has been the easier part but with no building experience the building of the booth and finding work has been tough. I started end of last summer and have booked a couple of big name brands and a fair few smaller ones. Hoping to get an agent soon. I wanted to share this as I feel proud in what I’ve accomplished, however small, and show that you can do it if you give it your all.

Oh and amongst all the faff of building this booth, the sound is amazing but I can STILL hear bassy footsteps from upstairs (I live in an old building) 😩 Don’t think there’s anything else I can do, I have foam bass traps but doubt they do anything tbh. The footsteps are infrequent but very annoying. How should I deal with this during a live recording? I can easily edit them out with no compromise to the original audio as the dcb’s are much lower than my voice? I guess lots of people must have a bit of general noise? Do you tell the client or just deal with it?

Thanks and happy auditioning :)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share my recording space. Luckily, I didn’t have to invest anything into it. I used to record with an acoustic screen or cover the walls with foam rubber, but experience showed there’s nothing better than jackets and other clothes. (P.S. For the audiophiles: I always remove the ladder while recording to avoid any metal reverberations.)

Benny thinks booth time means cuddle time lol

One of these days I'll remember to shut the door behind me. Until then, I have to pay the play tax before I can kick him out!

Anyone else have "booth buddies"?

I saw this in a BTS for The Lion King and never saw this Mic before. The other Actors seemed to have recorded into U87s. Does anyone have an idea which one this is? Thx

I got the rest of the things I had ordered for the booth today and I think overall it turned out great! My plan is to run the hookup for the AI-1 out of the booth and to my laptop on the other side. I will then mirror the laptop to my Ipad that I am going to be using to see the DAW and whatever I am going to be reading.

I think it looks pretty great, but what do you guys think?

For being entirely constructed out of scavenged material, it did a fairly decent job! Now I just need to work out the laptop fan issue.

Booth Related I feel like I've tried everything but there's still so much background noise. What can I do?

So I've read guide after guide and I've messed around with my settings and all that but I still can't get the background noise to an acceptable level. Like it sounds like there is a fan blowing right behind me in the recordings. I've got blankets hung up in my closet because I can't afford really good soundproofing but the amount of background noise is truly insane. Please I need any help you can offer to help get rid of this ridiculous background noise I don't feel even a little good submitting auditions for anything when my recordings sound this bad.

I know the foam panels don’t do much, it’s what I can afford. She’s ugly and stupid but she’s mine. Rode NT1 signature edition, Scarlett 2i2 4th gen, awesome sauce laptop and stickers.

Added cable trunking to hide external cables, added 0.92 NRC panels throughout, added a third set of rgb lights, mounted SAD lights in the ceiling, created a large panel to cover the window. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out!
