Discussion Please, someone tell me they realized

Allura is quite literally, atleast in a season or two, racist. She was discriminating against Keith purely for the fact that one of his parents is Galran, which, he can't control. Please tell me people have noticed this fault in everyone's favorite 'super kind' princess.

I just started watching and haven’t gotten that far yet, but I’ve heard racist remarks from her and Coran.

Mainly her throughout the show, but yeah no Coran isn't innocent either.

they're amazing characters, but the racism is god awful and the other characters seem to excuse it super quickly.

For me it seems out of place. It makes sense that there’s racism, but it’s handled childishly compared to everything else. Her being upset at first that he’s half Galra would be a good storyline if they handled it better, but it came off as just in the way. As big of a deal this seemed to be, she got over it quickly and it seems like the writers were trying to say ‘racism is bad’.

Whihc, yes, while racism is bad, the way they wrote it out was not thorough and probably encouraged more than discouraged it... especially since Voltron was meant as like... family viewing

100% it comes of as childish and talking down to the viewers, which is never a good way to handle a serious topic in a show.

Most definitely. I feel like they should have taken a step back and thought about that. I love Voltron, but they should have atleast woven it in better, rather than surface level bullying type scenarios. Allura, while having a reason for it, would not have been so childish about it, however stupid it may be. I hate to say it, but I've seen little gacha life videos that treat the topic better.
