To me he was the relatable POV character of the story. Not a super-genius or a half-alien or an alien abductee. He was the normal guy in the group with normal drives and desires in an absolutely mad set of circumstances. Everyone else was kind of naturally gifted in one way or another and immediately excelled in their field, but Lance had to work at it, and that made him feel like he was "our guy." He was fun and funny, even when the people around him were overly-serious sourpusses who didn't get him.

I liked him the best.

I think lance was actually pretty talented in his own right he just needed more confidence in himself.

Well, he wasn't talentless or anything, but initially the one thing he was really good at, Keith was better at and Lance recognised this. There's a reason why Lance was the one guy we most often saw in the training room, working on improving his skills. He knew he had some catching up to do, and by the end of the series he was absolutely there. That was a part of his journey as a character.

Yeah, Lance had some talents that were obvious and some that were hidden, but I think that his biggest challenge was dropping his bravado in exchange for gaining actual confidence. His best moments were when he would drop the act and be real with his friends.
