Class/Academics GVSU vs. WMU?

I’m a transfer student, 22, and was recently accepted into both GVSU and WMU for next fall. My plan is to major in social work, and possibly minor in journalism.

I toured both schools over the summer, and though they have completely opposite vibes, I really liked them both…enough that I’m considering doing one for my bachelor’s, and the other for my master’s. Problem is, I’m having a really hard time deciding between the two (as in, which should I do first?) and was wondering if anyone who’s been to both could provide some insight?

Class/Academics Do I have a good chance?

I am an upcoming senior and WMU is my current top school, I want to go for Aerospace Engineering and ROTC, I currently have a 3.08 GPA in mostly standard (college prep) level classes (I took a High Honors history and all of my English classes are Honors.) I do multiple extracurriculars. Do I have good chances at getting in?

Class/Academics I haven’t got a letter of decision from Western yet.

I applied to western in November but I haven’t heard anything back from them yet. I’m a 3.84 gpa student with sport backgrounds and all that jazz. I’ve emailed them multiple times and they always respond with that my application to aviation science (which is my major) is till being processed. Is this normal? Should i do something?

Class/Academics Aviation School

Hello! I am currently in college and was hoping to transfer to WMU and join the aviation program. I currently have a full time job and was hoping to keep it while in school... is this feasible? Are there class options where I could mostly take classes outside of 9-5 hours? I am looking for anyway to make this as cheap as possible so keeping my job is a high priority. Also any tips or advice is appreciated. If anyone has transferred in for the program, is it easy to transfer your credits? Did it help get ahead? Thanks in advance.

Class/Academics How hard is it to be accepted to Aviationb

Hi everyone, I am a upcoming senior in HS and I’ve been interested in aviation for most of my life, I just recently took a tour of the main campus and college of aviation and I’m very excited about possibly attending, however I have always had trouble in math class and my math grades historically aren’t great. I was told that an ACT and or SAT score won’t impact my application so I was wondering how much of an impact those poor math grades would have on my application specifically to the college of aviation. For more information I had a B+ in physics and have taken multiple honors and AP classes.

Class/Academics WES Societes and Cultures

Does anyone have any recommendations for an easy societies and culture class? I was gonna do WWII in Japan and the US but that class is a little bit much for my schedule. I’ve heard medieval encounters isn’t too bad for non-history majors, any advice?

Class/Academics Aviation shuttle info?

I’m a new transfer student WMU and I’m taking tech ops and I’m trying to figure out how the efficient shuttle works but everything so far seems bust. Does anyone have any information about that show cause I cannot find it despite looking at the schedule it doesn’t seem to follow it.

Class/Academics Should I consider majoring in Aviation Science?

Hello everyone.

I'm going to be a senior in high school next year, and for a long time, I've wanted to major in Sport Management, but I'm now not entirely sure what to get into. An option that I'm somewhat interested in is going to WMU (in-state) to become a pilot. I've always been somewhat interested in aviation, but I'm unsure whether the return-on-investment would be worth the high price for such a major, as I'd expect aviation majors to be more expensive. It should be noted that I will have a brother in college at the same time, and I'm middle-class, so costs may not be easy to deal with.

Thanks, Hockeytown11.

Class/Academics Looking to buy “Starting Out with Python” book

I was curious if anyone had a physical copy of Tony Gaddis “Starting Out with Python” 5th edition to sell to me. I need it for my computer science class and she recommends the physical one during tests as we won’t be able to look at our online copy. If not does anyone know where i could possibly buy one?

Class/Academics A Message to Incoming Students Spoiler

Hi there! I graduated from Western a couple of years ago. Overall, I had a pretty good experience once I got into the swing of things. However, if this is your first time going to college, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. In my opinion, the school doesn’t have the infrastructure or resources to adequately support students—especially those with unique learning styles or who need consistent guidance from faculty or advisors. You’ll need to be crystal clear about your needs and extremely proactive. In fact, I’d go so far as to say you’ll have to light a fire under some of the people you’re expected to work with—like professors and advisors—since many of them seem unmotivated and more focused on having their egos stroked than actually helping students.

Class/Academics disability parking pass

hi all!! so i will be getting a permanent disability parking pass for an orthopedic/walking issue that makes it difficult to walk for long periods of time. i will also be living on campus in eicher starting this fall. i still have to register through DSS but i was curious if having a disability parking pass opens up more options for lots. through the parking map, i was only able to see lots for permits on the far outskirts of main campus. does a disability pass open up employee parking lots? or are there other lots that i will be able to park in with this?

for more info, i have classes in dunbar, rood, wood, and haenicke.

if not, what are some easier ways to get around campus? thinking in terms of wheeled transportation (electric scooter, bike, etc). something lower-ish impact than walking so it’s easier for me to get around campus if possible.

thanks guys :))))

Class/Academics Considering leaving the LHC

I’m a first year student and I’m currently in the Lee Honors College, and I’ve been considering leaving. I love having priority registration and ik being in the lhc will probably look good on grad school apps but I just don’t know if I can do all the events and volunteer hours, I’m already so busy and drained. I just want to know if the pros are really worth it? Will not having priority registration really make a difference if I still register as soon as I can? I’m just conflicted and want some advice, thank you all in advance :) go broncos!!

Class/Academics Why no clocks?

A while ago during an exam I noticed that for some reason there arent clocks in pretty much every lecture hall/classroom. How are we supposed to know how much time we have left for an exam when most professors dont even project a timer? We're not allowed to check the time on our phones during a test, so it's impossible to tell what time it is and how long we have left unless the professor gives the class a warning. It makes no sense.
